You could also try decoration sniping which involves elder melder and save scumming. Hit up Google for a tutorial on that.

To answer ops question: no, decorations are not monster specific, but threat level 2 investigations give the highest chances for the rarer decorations

Purple rewards just means tempered investigations. You need specifically threat 2 monsters.

Well, this isn't exactly correct for multi-monster hunts. The HR requirement is the requirement of the strongest monster in the hunt, but the reward boxes are determined by the left-most monster on the mission screen.

So if you had, a mission with, say, Tempered Pukei-Pukei (Threat 1) and Tempered Rathalos (Threat 2), the mission would show as HR30 but the rewards would be threat 1 rewards.

As others have already said just do T2. I would also suggest to do them solo, if you're serious about cutting your grinding game down. Always eat Attack (L) in solo mode, Demondrug yourself up, and use the correct mantles.

Basically go full on dmg, if you are able, then simply don't die. You'll output serious dmg and shoot for 10 min kills or less. If you're taking more than 20 minutes in solo mode, you need to improve your build first before the serious grinding.
