[SOLVED]GTX950M Perf
----------- SOLVED
Will this run well on 6300HQ, 8GB DDR4 with 950M 4GB GDDR5?
On 720p it is, just 30fps is far enough.

Well, definitely not. Okay, maybe. But your old laptop CPU will be at severe risk of overheating.

Its a horrible card and most definitely you won't run the game smoothly in any setting.
If you want to play on laptops, you need something stronger then weak budget version of graphic card.

Game is also pretty CPU heavy as well.

Oh god. Replies from people who don't know what they're talking about.

I spent 300 hours playing this on a GT 940M, which is substantially weaker than your 950M and has DDR3 instead of GDDR5. It was capable of 30fps at 720, but it overheated unless I capped it lower.

You should be able to hold 30fps on lowest settings fine as long as your laptop has good cooling.

My laptop has gtx980m and a slightly better cpu than yours. I cant run the game over 40 fps at 1080p without it starting to overheat :/ so I capped the FPS at 30

youll be able to play the game, but you will be prone to high temps.

Try capping your CPU speed to not turbo boost by changing maximum performance state in power options to 99%. As for OP you can run the game on 720p at 30FPS or higher cause I'm able to do so on a 670mx and an i7 3630QM.
Most of the time when Im on the road I play on my laptop with the same specs except for a better cpu (i7 6700hq). I can manage 45 fps stable in most fights, but I prefer playing at locked 55 fps with +100 mhz overclock on the core clock. Been playing with the overclock since release.

Vaal, Teo, and Kush can push it down to 45-50, but no big thing

For temperature, my CPU never gets to 80c since I have the turbo disabled. And for the GPU max I can get is 83c with the overclock when idle at the workshop (for some reason the area is really heavy). In most hunts it never goes past 80c, usually 75-78c. Id say those are pretty good temps for an overclocked weak card, because I can get to 85c when pushing the card with Witcher 3 at 768p max settings with foliage low and hairworks off at locked 50 fps

Dont be afraid to see 83-85 on the card, but make sure it doesnt run that hot stable for hours

I played it on a 960M and after a month I had to buy a new laptop because it burned down my motherboard... so... yeah, I can tell that the performances won't be amazing on an even weaker card and that if you don't have amazing cooling you're at severe risk of overheating your CPU.

People in this thread seem to forget that this game is more CPU than GPU intensive and that the i5 OP has is weaker than the i7 the other people here have.

..why would you want to suffer like that for 300 hours? :gaper:

Because I was saving money for a new system.

Except the system I was using had an i5 6200U, which, like the 940m, is substantially weaker than what OP has.
Well my CPU was exactly the one OP has, so I think I'm in the right place to know what kind of stress this game puts on that CPU in particular.
Undervolting and disabling Turbo Boost also helps not to reach high temperatures on the CPU

gtx860m and i5-4210 with 2.90 GHz here playing on resolution 1280x720 mostly over 30 fps wich is good enough for me since i played monster hunter tri over 500 hours on the wii
use the 398.36 version of the game ready driver from nvidia since every other driver after that has bad performace on MHWorld

Using special k's thread limiting completely stopped all cpu heat issues. If you still had heat issues with it, I'm willing to put money on your laptop being either choked with dust or just had ♥♥♥♥ cooling to begin with.

Any cooling in a laptop that can't handle 100% load on a non-overclockable chip is badly designed.
