Should I buy the game?
So firstly ever since MHW came out I've thought it looked awesome and fun, this isn't about the gameplay but more about the technical side. I don't play on console much and when the pc port released it was, well, dangerously close to an abrupt end of support. Now a friend of mine who has been playing the game through all the bugs and everything says the game is pretty much 100% fixed and wants me to buy it and play together.

Like I said I really want to I'm just a bit cautious about possible technical and online performance issues, so I was hoping I could get a few second-hand opinions about the technical state of the game.

The game has come a long way in bug fixes, optimizations, and additional options, as well as content. I think it's in an excellent place at the moment, and well worth a buy, especially with the winter event going on for the next couple of weeks.

That said, some people seem to be having connectivity issues at the moment, though it seems to be a small fraction of players that suffer from it for unknown reasons.

The game is in a good state from a technical standpoint. There aren't a lot of FPS drops if none for a lot of people and connectivity issues aren't a lot either.
I'd say it is a pretty good period to buy the game and have tons of fun. BUT what I would recommend is to get to know what end-game is like. It is grindy.
No. You won't be able to play with your friend until you've watched cutscenes. There's a lot of them and you can't skip them. The co-op experience is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

This is just mis-information. You troll this forum way too much or just really noob at the game in general. Co-op works perfectly fine, He has to watch a cutscene, GOD FORBID I have to wait to join certain key story missions.
If you fire a SoS to have people join and one of them disconnects, you'll just have to cancel said SoS and refire is all.
Game runs very well and only discconnects we see are if the session themselves have connectivity issues. Not common though
Btw, a cracked version recently came out and it has steam-fix support so you may want to see if it's compatible with online play.

You're literally telling him to break the law on the MHW forums
Capcom has been doing a great job in fixing the game and responding quickly to the main issues brought up by the players. They stated the PC version of the game is currently their main focus business wise, so you should expect them to continue supporting the game like that in the following months.
Asking about buying a game in a game's community forum is always bad idea btw. I asked a similar question in Dragon's Dogma discussions and they all said that MHW stinks. This place is obviously going to be heavily biased . I suggest you post this question somewhere else where you can get a more neutral stance.

You are more full of it than an Alt-Right Twitter bot.
QUIT TROLLING THE FORUMS PLEASE or if you're serious... maybe try another game.

You spread really bad information on every post I've seen from you and this would make 6 posts that I have seen from you. 5 of those were today
How is asking that question on DD forums even related to how biased MHW forums are?

Seems like people are saying the game is fine technically, and obv people are going to be biased, but asking anywhere else will probly get you an uninterested and not fully informed opinion or even a negatively biased opinion. So I'm gonna go ahead and buy it during the winter sale, if for some reason the game doesn't work for me then I'll just have to refund but I hope it doesn't come to that. Thanks guys

I was gonna say buy it during the sale (the one that just passed would have been best tho..) and keep in mind you're playing with people all over..sometimes not close enough that connections are good.

I have great internet, and a ..well high enough end laptop i play on, never any lag, with anything..
From time to time, in multiplayer it lags a ton in certain fights. Most times they go perfect. Case in point, fighting AT kirin the past few days...3 fights went like matrix neo slow.

Don't base the game being "good or not" on those kinds of fights. There are still some connection issues outside of that, (5000 something mhw) that happens raaaaaaaarely. I dunno the graphic finer points however, for me at least it runs fine, and have had little to no problems (counting online stuff). If your comp is good, net is good/decent enough, you should be golden. (personal opinion)

(and i'd suggest you watch some MH videos..especially more recent ones if they say they're on pc..to see the quality for yourself, or a twitch streamer or something and see if it really has problems, or is passable..an objective opinion).

People might come to me with their pitchforks with my following statement.

Download cracked one for finding technical issues (not that i have any).

And personally, currently there's no connection issue at all whether i play at my home 20mb connection or on my office 2mb connection

As someone who has over 300 hours now on each the ps4 pro on a 4k display and pc at 4k 2k and 1080p I have to say now the pc version is by far the definitive experience.

Mods for QoL fixes that Capcom has yet to or may ever do. Higher fps across many many system configs vs consoles, can turn volumetric pee filter off (this is huge trust me.) The load times are 10x faster. And this one surprised me but the pc release actually has hands down better online now, getting into your friends lobby is much much faster on pc
