It is though. Just with optional styles. If you play Guild Style with no Hunter Arts equipped, it's no different from any MH title before it. It's an Anniversary title meant for fun, but it contains all the core peices for a normal game.
but the sad look is many newcomer from MHW think that they are experienced real MH...by just playing MHGU well i recommended them to tried 4U first well if i did tell them to play even older MH they may hate that MH and didn't act tough and so powerfull after playing older gen too much
sorry for bad english
I mean I started with MHFU and I don't mind anyone "starting" with MHGU. Like I said it contains the core peices that make Monster Hunter what it is, and it just so happens to have nearly every single Monster from the past games. Also I wasn't a huge fan on MH4U. Not sure why, it didn't feel great.
Yo.. just gonna mention.. you freaking need 3 plattforms to play these 3 games you mentioned. The majority probably has.. 1.. at most 2. I think that the very minority actually owns a 3ds.. switch.. pc/ and or ps4/xbox.
Freedom unite on the other hand can be played on pc.. tablets and good smartphones tho. I always recommond playing the even older titles. Classics.
Going from World to GU, you are trading quality of life for raw content. Most of the core features of World are vastly expanded upon in GU - weapon crafting and palicoes have entirely different systems altogether. On the other hand, you have to manually empty your inventory after every hunt, gathering is more resource intensive, and combat is a little less responsive. It's still a solid entry for MH.
As far as the switch goes, its more impressive than I expected. The joycons feel better in handheld mode than attached to the controller dock and the display is quality. Gotta say 70 bucks for the pro controller is ridiculous though. You also have to pay a subscription fee to play online, which is a little annoying considering MHGU had no such fee on the 3DS.
i heard there is some people still plays MHFU online on apple version
But if you're getting a Switch for only one game I would be a bit hesitant on that. I'd recommend that you look at other Switch games that might interest you first and if you are able to find at least 3 games that you see yourself playing then go right ahead!
The switch does come with a paid online "service" tho and g-rank is always balanced towards multiplayer so keep that in mind too.
Some HR bosses that are fat sacks of HP and a DPS check like nakarkos are borderline impossible without a team.
For the game itself, it's just there to make you appreciate how far the series has come. Not very fun to play through by yourself.
