DBs can be pretty tedious against Kirin, from my experience at least.

Thunder charge blade without mind's eye jewel.
Almost anything melee.

A weapon that doesn't have good sharpness and instantly goes down to green, why? Cause have fun bouncing every hit you try to do.

Bad sharpness and technically dragon type weapons due to being resistant to them however people argue the elder seal is still useful I guess.

from a normal standpoint, DB, and maybe SnS are probably the worst tactical choices. they do good damage true, but against AT kirin, pretty much only when it is laying down and its face is readily available.

anything with high reach attacks that can smack the face are all viable though, just be aware those are the attacks you'll primarily be using, so if your damage combo for a weapon is a lot of low sweeps THEN a high sweep maybe 1 time the whole combo, you'll be doing crap for damage.

GS, elemental SA or Bow, HBG, impact CB, or hunting horn are all good choices.

Great weapons:
Hammer - Great hit & roll weapon with high burst damage. Stunning means easy 1~2k free damage. Bonus point if you save someone paralyzed or stunned by launching them into the air.
GS - Fairly safe to do draw & roll, but GS shines with wakeup call. An average Kirin sleeps twice in a match (one with sleep shell and one when it's dying) and two GS wakeup can mean one-fourth of its health for free. Also can block, and can save paralyzed teammates.
Gunlance - Guard, long reach, shell deals fire damage.

Good weapons:
HGB (Guard up) - You hit hard and block everything if you stand still. But you're also the primary source of friendly fire.
Bow - Extremely high dpm but also very dangerous to play. If you're out of stam and the ground grows white you're dead.
Lance (Guard up) - Low damage, but who's going to say anything when you're not getting carted.
SA - It's great but only when you knows what you're doing.
LBG - Sleep is great. Slice is ok. Half utility/ Half damage. Just make sure you don't die because you're too busy reloading and forgot to dodge.
LS - Foresight slash is great, but still risky nevertheless, and the dps is not that great.

Meh weapons:
SnS - You ain't really going to hit its horn. It's good for the wide-range + nulberry combo, which can AoE cures thunderblight debuff, or just chew on the might seed and get that sense of teamwork accomplishment.
DB - Same as above. Too short to reach horn. Fancy, but impratical, especially when Kirin is enraged and you can't land a single hit without bouncing.
IG - Mediocre dpm with no advantage of being airbrone. Might as well go for DB if you just wanna play something fancy and dance around lighting.
HH - Despite the fact that I love HH players, lets be real here, it's just too damn slow to do anything against a Kirin.

I fundamentally disagree that LS is low damage on Kirin. Inherent Mind's Eye on many of its attacks is nice, it can hit the horn very reliably, and foresight slash allows it to stay in, which most weapons cannot do. It's really more risky than it is low damage, since it can tear Kirins apart if you're landing spirit helm breakers into the horn.

I gave a go on DB since people said it was the worst weapon for Kirin fight as i was a bit mad of my kill time with LS i switched weapons and did my first dozen DB's hunt on Kirin, first one on regular Kirin and the other on AT Kirin.
And i must say DB is a more efficient weapon than LS on Kirin.

Yes DB have less reach therefore it have less hit on the head in theory but in reality it miss the head only if the player is on any slope and if you are lower than Kirin, sometime on even ground it can miss too but on average all those misses are negligible on dps lost as the weapon have a very high rate headhitting, the slide combo on demon mode have a very good vertical reach for applying WE damage on the 2nd and 3rd combo and with temporal mantle its nobrain demondance. And DB is not much imput combo heavy.

Meanwhile LS have very good reach and have forsight slash but it is not as spam a single atk to win as the DB,LS is combo heavy mean the DPS is way more RNG-like,LS is almost deprived of 1/3 of his damage output cycle(helmbreaker) if not under temporal mantle and on temporal mantle deeply fu ck the DPS if interupted on spirit combo.

For LS the cons outweight the pros and the other way around for DB.

TLDR:Average hunt:LS 20/25 min killtime,DB 15/20 min killtime.Both with 4 megabombs.
My best time was on the 15th min both weapons.

Sns is perfect for kirin. Thunderattack around her? Backstep.Thunderattack on u? Frontstep.
Mount it to cheese and i can easily reach the horn. No clue what ur on.
Sns is on of the best melee weapons for kirin. It got ko damage, mount and normal. The moveset and fast combos are also not to be joked about.

I mount kirin atleast 3 times now and ko her twice. I also broke twice her horn with the mountmove in random pub sessions.
