what you need is temporal and thunder proof with 3 simple cheap jewel called maintenance jewel to makes sure your mantle is up for 80-90 percent of the fight. it's simple. don't think too hard. and if you are solo just put the best buff on the game that's called "fortitude"

it has good damage and of course, great support because it's a Hunting Horn. Thunder Charm III for 3/3 Thunder Resistance, meaning you can eat Attack up M/Elemental Defense S and not get Thunder Blighted.
Empress Roar "Styx" for some awesome buffs. of course, you can use "Blaze" or Deep Vero, as well as Tesotra's Orphee as well. if you use those, switch out the Satiated Decoration with Horn Maestro.
if you use Deep Vero, feel free to switch to Empress Vambraces B and Empress Coil B. switch the gems in the Vambraces to Mighty/Satiated and Empress Coil B... well, there's not really anything to switch to, but hey.
Teostra's Orphee neuters your damage output, but, no one should die during the fight with Divine Blessing and All Status Ailments Negated. if you do go with Teostra's Orphee, switch to Empress Vambraces B and use Mighty/Satiated. you could also add a decoration slot to the Teostra's Orphee instead for the Satiated Decoration. Blast Attack 3 overcaps Teostra's Orphee and 1 Blast Attack undercaps it by 30 when you have Ailment Up L.
"Styx" is my choice here because it's a good middle ground. Deep Vero without white sharpness hurts. "Blaze" gets nautral white, but, it's missing out on defensive buffs that are really useful for AT Kirin.

HGB
in MP i swap attack4 to > sleep attack 3 (can sleep 3-4 time) or wildrange 5
Artillery Skill
Thunder Resist 15 minimum.
Thunder Mantle and Temporal Mantle 90% uptime as they nearly overlap.
That's the whole build. You spam Single Burts 2x into Quick reload. ( Xbox B>B>RB+B)
Vitality, item prolonger, faster item recharge, Stun resist, Para Resist, Guard Up, Divine Protection and recovery up
These are all nice to have skills.
This is a super safe super easy build.
Most of the randos I see were doing HBG with shield build, and they just stand still and tank hits like nothing. And to be honest it's either that, or 3 carts in 2 minutes. The good randos will know exactly what they're doing, and the bad ones, well, maybe they thought there's an achievement for beating AT Kirin with 100 maximum health.
1. The Blight from its lightning attacks. It makes a stun more likely. Nulberries cures this. So does 20 Thunder Resist. Little stars is the debuff icon.
2. A Paralysis effect that is triggered by specific lightning attacks. Thunder Resist does not prevent this. Nor does the mantles. Two wavy lines is the debuff icons.
Admittedly the Paralysis attack has massive damage so yeah getting stuck like that will get you dead anyways. Though my Palico actually saved me from it today. Just a shame it also meant that he dragged the Kirin right into me moments later.
Dark Devourer, sticky, cluster and wyvern ammo. I KO quite often so I don't see the need of Slugger

Yes, but not as much as rocksteady. I still ignore it though. Why are people even using temporal when using ranged lol
Yeah.. I dont even like it that much.. when I play GS and DB. Temp is a noob trap same as rocksteady. I will never forget that dude against nerg that didn't notice how nerg damaged him with his small paw attacks and cart.
But with kirin mhm.. the only attack that can screw you with temp on is the charge. Should be easy to dodge.
But yeah relying on mantles is so.. anti monster hunter. I mean I also use rocksteady at the beginning of the fight.. very often but thats it. Maybe thunderproof if I screw up against kirin.. but eh. Who need mantles if you dont get hit. ( Dat damn team darkside.. because of them I practiced with the evasion mantle ) Gawd its so hard.. but op as heck if you can handle it.
