I got scared after reading "tanky" build, I thought it was gonna be another def boost 7 build.
Honestly with that much health regen you might as well just build Peak Performance 3 to boost your melee damage.
Consider also getting rid of Speed Sharpening and using whetfish fins instead. They're not that hard to farm.
Here's an alternative build without Speed Sharpening (it even gets Mind's Eye as a free bonus):
http://honeyhunterworld.com/mhwb/?153,114,103,79,101,103,65,health,health,0,4,0,0,32,77,0,4,4,96,53,0,0,16,90,0,75,52,0,3
You can replace the Guard Up deco with another Critical Boost for monsters that don't require it.
There was one free slot that I used to complete Tool Specialist, but you might as well replace that and one Health Boost with Speed Sharpening if you don't want to run whetfish fins.
If you end up thinking two health regen is overkill, replace one of them with an affinity augment. It will increase the chance of critting and therefore to recover more health, so in the end it might be better.

A tanky build without Guard 3 and Recovery Up. Now I have seen everything.

Feast your eyes on the true Immortal Gunlancer Build!

No clue why the screenies are this bad quaity but meh, there it is.

The main concern with this build is the weakness to fire and thunder (the two main elements the enemies spit at you) it gives. So the use of appropriate mantles is necessary.

Medicine Jewels give me more health back from Health Regen augments and Health Booster. Recovery Up plus vaal Hazak set bonus gives continuous health regen so that Peak Performance is active most of the time. I even stopped using health giving food options so that my health regens to max quickly.

So whenever a monster rages, just eat an Astera jerky and fight, your red health regens fast. I have been knocked into the air and by the time I get up, the damage done has already almost healed up.

Note: you can remove the guard up jewel for one point more in evade extender for more hopping powah. Or put in a mind's eye gem against stuff like Kirin. Once I get enough Guard jewels, I will replace the recovery up jewels with em and get a handicraft charm to get white sharpness.

Royal burst is pretty fun. Unfortunately, I'm a joyless minmaxer who slapsticks with Deviljho GL

Pretty nicely balanced.
I'd probably go for mind's eye over guard up, if you have the gem for it. Guard up will only save you vs vaal breath (easily divable) or teo Nova (about 50/25/25 chance. 50% have time to sheath and dive, 25% have time to finish combo and block, 25% don't have time to finish combo)

To be "infinite" burst combo, you need either earplugs or no-bounce or both.

Also, the lack of flinch free 1 is very...trusting...

Just one thing : my build is not the best build. It's the one that suit the best for my skill and gameplay ;)

Full Burst combo has free ESP

Yeah, once it's going, but unless you have a ledge nearby, hard targets will ricochet the opening swing.

Thats why I urge people to hit weakspots, not just blindly spam the FB combo on any part. After all those 2 big melee slams can hit real hard, why not hit weakspots then

I Can tell it won't ricochet. The only anoying mob for this is Lavasioth

I find GL too immobile to chase a twitchy monster's weakpoints, especially when shell damage ignores armor. But perhaps you're right, Evade extender would be better than guard up and mind's eye.

It's not so difficult to hit weak spot with GL
