How do I play as SnS support? How many items I need?
Thinking about playing support SnS with this build, https://i.imgur.com/OqGyEia.png. What are all the things I need in my pouch and inventory and how much?

Blue Mushrooms and toadstools (as many as you can carry), since you're running lv1 Mushroomancer; mega potions and the ingredients to make them, (mega) demondrugs/armorskin if you're into those; antidotes/herbal medicine and nullberries for status ailments. I don't think max potions/ancient potions work with Wide Range, so maybe keep those for yourself.

If I missed anything, feel free to add to the list.

Don't play "support". In monster hunter, doing damage is the best way to help your team, especially with SnS. It can block, do aerial attacks, cause knockouts, and cut, a very dinamic weapon, with the continued ability of using items without needing to sheathe. Now, there's nothing wrong with using have a few skills that help others out, but your primary goal should be damage.

Hopefully these links work, these are sets by Canta Per Me, an extremely good Monster Hunter Player:
SnS Set, will require some deco grinding

If you got decent luck from Kulve Taroth to get Slicer "Mud":

If these aren't doable for you yet, Athena's Armor Set Search is a really good program for plugging in skills to generate powerful mixsets.
That set is pretty random and shows that the guy that made it never really cared about support builds.
For me there's only one way to make a support build and that's with Mushroomancer 3 (+ Free Meal to extend your item stock). I don't feel like Speed Eating is ever needed because you chew the shrooms pretty fast already and it won't speed up the potions for your teammates.
With Mushroomancer+Wide Range the only items you'll ever need are 10x each of Blue Mushrooms, Parashrooms and Nitroshrooms (Toadstool and Devil's Blight are optional). You could also bring Sushifish scales for healing because they also work with WR.

If you have a good team, personally I find mushroomancer to be pointless unless you dedicate 3 levels into it.

For support, Wide Range 5, speed eating is nice on the set & free meal is great too. You have a good Paralysis blade, maybe work in paralysis attack to better utilize its ability (e.g. swap out the nergi head) unless you're doing longer hunts but otherwise looks like a fun set to use as is.

I think your better off going for survivabilty with a twing of support using wide range. I personally cant stand it when i have a red health bar that im planning on using jerky for but some guy just downed a potion and ruined my 60% instant heal.

So saving people from being carted or increasing their uptime by removing their need to sheathe their weapons to heal isn't a good way to "help the team"?

It should be "Don't play corner support". Just sitting in a corner away from the fight to heal people is a bad way to play. Fighting with everyone else in the fray and popping heals/buffs when needed is fine. You can do damage and support at the same time.

Exactly this, a para support SnS build is a godsent for certain monsters, you can provide a huge damage window for your team and buff them up like crazy while they pump out damage, and your own is not too shabby either, that's not even mentioning your life-saving abillities with gobbler and mega health potions.

Any more opinions on the build I listed

If you want to support not just by helping them survive but increase the overall dps too, you might want to try HH, you can deal some serious damage + KO too which is awesome. And the encore is just satisfying to land.

Max "wide range", "mushroomancer" and "speed eating"
Mhblis Nov 22, 2018 @ 10:05pm
The key skills people have already talked about.

Wide range, ailment of choice (I prefer para gives a more reliable damage window), free meal and speed eating (if you feel the need)

Be aware speed eating dictates how quickly you use the consumable.

Recovery up is how much it heals for. This skill does not affect your party members only yourself.

The biggest problem you will actually find is that people just plain stop healing themselves when a support is round.

Focus more on being aggressive with your para or sleep. Use healing as a supplement for the team rather than your main focus.

Also be aware you cant save everyone since so many people get one hit or quick combed.

here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/951jwe/i_altered_duncankneedeeps_behealmoth_set_ended_up/

i've modified this slightly because i didn't uagment for an additional slot. you can just drop a point in Recovery Up. i also use this with a HH as well.

this build has everything you want: Wide Range, Speed Eating, Weakness Exploit, Health Boost, etc. if you want to use it with a different weapon, i'd just ignore the Medicine decorations and replace the charm with a status charm of your choice (Para/Sleep).

if you wnat mushroommancer, you only need 1 point in it to get the ability to eat Blue Mushrooms, which is the most important one.
