For me the DPS meter is really helpful. I'm currently working on solo extremoth and it helps me to see how much damage I'm doing per area and how close I am to killing him. I don't share DPS to others but it makes multiplayer more fun for me too.
Thanks for the replies, I will reinstall it and report back.
The damage meter is also a fairly good way for people to see their performance. They could think they are doing a super amazing job on a fight, dealing damage, not dying, but then someone posts a dps chart and they only did 10% of the damage...they got ♥♥♥♥ to work on.
I appreciate you folks who don't share. It always irks me a little inside when dps metered people share without being asked to. Even my irl buddy who plays with me and has the meter only tells me and my other friend when we ask because he knows it's a polite thing to do.
no my issue is that it's uncalled for. Some hunts I tryhard, some hunts I troll around. And three out of the four times I've seen it posted, it was used as a way to shame someone. Shaming someone you don't even know isn't an amazing way to motivate that person to do better. It's a ♥♥♥♥ move to make yourself feel better for "working on gitting guud". Not that you shouldn't feel good for playing well, but don't you dare ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feel good by pushing others down. That ♥♥♥♥♥♥ irks me.
sharing dps meter is like sharing advice. If other other person don't want it, don't give it.
It's entirely called for, especially on behemoth. If you have 2 players in the dps role, 1 tank, and 1 healer and you look at the damage meter and one of your "dps" has similar damage as the tank or healer...they're deadweight. They need to know that and so do you. What they do with that information is up to them, maybe they use it to make themselves feel like they are being picked on, maybe they'll be less of a ♥♥♥♥♥ and figure out how to improve themselves. Depends on their attitude and reason for playing, I suppose...
It must have been working the whole time I just didn't realize the overlay doesn't show if your not in quest where you deal damage.
