Styx HBG is also really good, with build in spareshot!

(They have had slight updates since the Teo Gamma armor came out, but you get the idea).
IMO these are the best two HBGs in the game, but are far from all rounders.
As others have already stated TAG is an absolute beast with spread ammo and excellent for solo farming most 9* TED investigations + it's also awesome against AT Kirin & Teo. It can be pretty boring to play in comparison to other weapons, but monsters die fast! It's very suited to a close range style of play.
TAS is a beast with Pierce + you get wyvern for wake ups. This one is a bit more specialised, but works really well against long/wide monsters like Diablos and Vaal. TAS is more suited to a long range/group play style.
For sticky you want Magda Gemitus + for cluster I would go with Dark Devourer.
For elemental, normal and status you are probably better off with an LBG.
So in summary, why have one when you can have many
taroth assault support HBG (pierce 3 good for bazel, radoban, uragan, diablos, xeno, deviljho)
(whatever pierce 3 can do, spread 3 can also do)
dark devourer HBG (cluster 3 cheese)
magda gemitus HBG (for cluster 3 and CC, carries para, sleep, exhaust and sticky ammo)
glutton and dark devourer is all you really need
but these 4 listed are the most used HBG.
Here are the best HBGs for each ammo type from best to worst:
spread = 1. Taroth Assault Glutton 2. Taroth Assault Horn (also best wyvernheart) 3. Empress Cannon Ruin 4. Destruction's Fusillade
pierce = 1. Taroth Assault Support (beaten by the upcoming Kjarr variant) 2. Legia Shattercryst 3. Empress Cannon Styx
normal = 1. Empress Cannon Styx 2. Power Shooter
slicing = 1. Empress Cannon Styx 2. Taroth Assault Spark or Rage (have to check)
sticky/cluster = 1. Dark Devourer 2. Magda Gemitus
wyvern = 1. Griffon Blazooka 2. Teostra's Flames
CC (para/sleep/sticky) = Magda Gemitus
Stickies allow for easy multiplayer damage and Clusters allow for singleplayer speedruns.
It carries very nice sleep and para ammo, both very important.
Incorrect, spread ammo is not good against every single monster.
