Effluvial resistance
What exactly does it do? I always thought that it was just a resistance to the status effect that cuts your health in half. But I keep seeing comments that make it sound like more than that.

Effluvium (the Hazak status) builds over time while you're standing in the poisonous mist surrounding him. You'll notice it because if you're wearing immunity mantle or using any other ailment protection you'll glow blue every time you take a "hit" from the mist (it also deals a small amount of damage to you). Once you've taken enough hits effluvium changes your bar into yellow and halves your max hp.
What the skill does is increasing the number of hits required to reach the threshold that activates the "curse", and at lv3 it will make you completely immune to it.

Well, that's all it does actually.

Except it makes Vaal Hazak fight very easy as the less amount of time you spend curing it, the more damage you can do. Trust me, it's not fun when your health is suddenly cut down to half and then a Tempered Vaal decides to take a running stab at you.

Thanks very much.
Not sure why it supposedly trivializes the fight, then. I've only ever gotten the debuff once ever, and that was one of the two times I've been hit by the beam. The first was the first time I fought him and didn't know it was a sweeper, lol. The second was bazel being a ♥♥♥♥. rolled out of bombs and into the beam. That's the one that debuffed me.

Brah what game are you playing? You can't fight Vaal Hazak and Bazel togheter....
Something smells fishy in what you said.

^ this is wrong

miasma = for vaal hazak, it prevents half HP debuff and mitigates his own passive damage. the equipment needed to fight him effectivley is specifically from vaal hazak, except decorations and a charm which you cant get until after vaal.

effluvium = the passive mist in rotten vale.

so the girros set does nothing whatsoever against vaal. source, i crafted that set as soon as i got to HR as its the fashion i wanted to wear the rest of the base game.

likewise, miasma skill does nothing while fighting anything in the mist.

Not sure what you're talking about. But Bazel can come after you in any zone. And he REALLY likes to attack while you're fighting other mobs.
Check the wiki if you don't believe me. It literally says you find him in all biomes. Admittedly, I've only seen him in rotten vale two or three times.

when you hunt an elder dragon its supposed to be the only thing on the map. i have never had a hunt with an elder dragon and had bazel show up.

The only time I've seen anything else on the map with an Elder Dragon is in the Elder's Recess, and then it's very specific. Nergi comes in and John Cenas the other elder, then leaves. Outside of that one specific instance on that one map, elders spawn alone (not counting small monsters).

I looked it up and it says that elder dragons can only have turf wars in quests, not investigations. I was just watching a video where an oda dropped a vaal into limping mode.
So it must have been in one of the two quests that want you to kill vaal. It was at least a week or two ago, so I'm hazy on the details.

You should facepalm yourself.
That is a special assignment quest and the only quest in the game that allows a normal monster to fight against an elder dragon. There is no other quest of this kind in the game and definetely not one where a bazel appears in quest or investigation for an elder. Only way to get a Bazel and a Vaal togheter is to mod your game and have custom quests. Or trought events, but not even on the console version there was such thing as a bazel and vaal quest, best they had was a quest with more than 1 tempered elder.

Just a note, effluvia resistance is just against the ailment. Nothing else. Edit: this is against both the mist in the Vale and vaal hazak itself.

Effluvial expert prevents the tick damage, but only from Vale effluvium. You can't stop the tick damage from vaal hazak (from what I've read and the kit I've used)
