Best to farm for Wyvern Gems?

In that case yes, but only if you cut his tail, otherwise the chances are about the same as other monsters.

If that's the case, tempered or even normal investigations are the best way. SPecifically, you need to be hunting Tobi-Kadachi, Paolumu, Jyuratodus, Barroth, Diablos, Radobaan, or Lavasioth to get these gems. If you're hunting something else, other types of gems will drop.

the drop rates between the monsters vary, but only minorly so, so best bet is to try and get a hunting investigation with 1 or 2 of these in a single hunt, and a good amount of silver and gold reward slots. then bring either a capture or carve set to get bonus rewards from that, and eat for lucky cat or use a lucky voucher for a chance to have one pop up in the first 2 lines of the quest rewards.

wyvern gems... used in so many things im suprised its not a currency.

those figths felt like killing small monsters this is the easiest MH game ever hands down, skill system, monsters, level of quests.

I would do Jyuatodus investigations with 4 reward slots. Jyura is pretty easy give it's rarely/never distracted by another mob (only Barroth). Tobi is easy, but its missions tend to have an Anga, Rath, or Bagel to waste your time.

That's what I've found anyway. Kill whatever you find easier. I main hammers, IG, and GS. Hammer Jyura and Tobi is very easy and i happened to need them for weapons.

I mean...i get distracted by other mons too haha. If a Rathian or Rathalos appears i tend to bully them :D

I got a lot of Wyvern Gems while sifting through many many boring HR13 Tempered Investigations. A whole bunch actually, especially from Tobi-Kadachi when I was trying to find a Gold Crown version. Really though all you need to do is get a list of the monsters who drop them, and use appropriate stuff in order to get more rewards from your kills.

Tempered Investigations aren't so good for Wyvern Gems because their reward boxes are purely decorations and streamstones, but you still get it commonly in the basic rewards box - but if you're really really trying to brute force it, you'll want to cherry pick the 2 Silver 2 Gold box ones if you can.

Like if you want to be carving, consider trying to bring Felyne Carver + Felyne Lucky Cat from a Custom Platter, with Guild Cross Great Luck set bonus or the Commission Guidance +1 Carve set bonus...or just combine 2 pieces of High Rank Legiana armour with 3 pieces of High Rank Kirin armour and capture everything in sight as well.

Generally speaking, Felyne Carver is for when you are killing and carving, and Felyne Lucky Cat is for when you are capturing. It's pretty great when combined with Good Luck + Capture Master (2/2 Legiana + 3/3 Kirin sets) or just Great Luck (4/4 Guild Cross set)

Remember that tails can spawn gems too, so bringing a weapon that can achieve that will help quite a bit if you're fighting a monster with a severable tail.

Don't forget melding, although I personally wouldn't waste a Gold Wyvernian Print on a Wyvern Gem, they're too common for that.

This is the best answer. For 4. it's basically unlocking all the alcohol options from the Research Base quests once you've killed the ??? boss.

My Gem farming set has extra partbreaker decos just to help with point 6.

I think mine is Legiana Head and Arms and Kirin Body, Coil and Boots (all Beta).

Point 8. is important with Kirin because the bonus only works for captures.
