I can imagine doing the "turnaround punisher" on him with GS too, but definetly no high charge - but speaking of GS, the shoulder bash could be helpful there, too.
Swichaxe is something i haven't touched in years tho
I dont use traps to deal damage but in this case it seems uaefull
Dude I have 3 bow sets and around 7 HBG sets. I have over 50 hunts each with every weapon but the insect glaive and long sword and some weapons inlcuding HBG i have upwards of 200 hunts. I'm the definition of flexiable.
As for everyone else though seems your solutions is what I do already, love taps on his tail and legs with flash pods and traps. I just thought there was more to it then that. Hes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ monster imo whos only gimick the damn pinecones just anoy me.
only thing that keeps me off is the god awfull keyboard controlls
For non-tempered, just flash pod it every time it flies up.I imagine greatsword/switch axe is more forgiving since you can avoid blowing yourself up by triggering his pods due to your longer range. Fighting tempered bazelgeuse, on the other hand, is godawful. After the four pods, you're pretty much limited to only aerial attacks... since if you attack him and a pod drops in the middle of your combo, you one-shot yourself (especially if you're playing DB, your short range just means that you're almost guaranteed to kill yourself from a random pod dropping in the middle of your combo if he's not downed).
I think the safest way to melee Bazelgeuse is to find stuff you can do jumping attacks off of (for mounting damage) and try to bring him down frequently. That's what I've found works best for tempered Bazel. However, this is stupidly slow compared to just killing him with a ranged weapon. I literally learned bow just for the purpose of killing Bazelgeuse.
You know that tall ledge up high Elder's? The one Kush sleeps on?
I've fought him up there on purpose with GL because (non tempered) you can easily tank all the explosions and belly flops, but the small area means they stop wtill completly within stabbing range because of attempting their 500 foot run in a 15 foor area.
It's completly ass backwards and I love it that it works.
Also, while "Just 20 fire resist" probably won't save your life against a bad break vs tempered version. For Normal it's a huge QoL and DPS booster.
DPS because you cant be lit on fire. So no stopping to put yourself out. After capturing bagels during expeditions like a joke a few times, I finally started using fire resistance because of dumb **** like "Haha I did a mount finisher-oh it landed me on scales on the way down.... Well, I guess I'll slowly burn to death while hitting downed Bagels rather than waste DPS".
Devil is the real troll though. Bagels won't carry what you are hunting across half the map, and despite their explosive nature is fair minded enough to spend plenty of time at face punching height.
Now I'm often amused or glad to see bagels show up. But Devil's attention ♥♥♥♥♥ methods and stilt legs can remain obnoxious even after you "git gud".
