Food Skills Question
Hi all, I was wondering if there's a way to choose what felyne skills you get from food. Are there certain food combinations for each felyne skill? Or it's completely random?

Also, Felyne Researcher says "unlock investigations more easily during EXPEDITIONS ". My question is, according to the description, this only works during expeditions ?

It won't work for events and investigations?

I was asking because I was wondering if it will give me more tempered investigation if i have felyne researcher when doing the event "A simple task".

Thank you in advance.

Press tab when you are selecting ingredients.
Felyne researcher does only work for expeditions sadly. It's just there as a saving grace for if you completely run out of investigations entirely and need to farm via expeditions

Thanks you 2! I guess the felyne researcher one is almost useless. I'm gonna check out the "tab" suggestion thanks! I've been wanting to try to get "felyne insurance" on investigations with "1 faint failure" for that extra life. Thanks!

I'm not 100% certain, but I think Insurance just stops you from losing half of your zenny reward when a player faints. I don't think it actually allows you to faint once and have it not count.

If you want a food buff for that, try Felyne Moxie. I've never actually fainted while I had it active, but it says you'll live through an attack that would otherwise have killed you. Sounds useful to me.

I've seen it work a lot of times. I know if you faint, it will not count towards the faint counts. I've seen it happen a lot of time when it saved quite a few runs where there's only 3 faint limit and they fainted 3 times but the felyne insurance activated so that 1st faint didn't count. But I've only seen this on normal assigned, optional, and event quests. I haven't actually seen it on investigations where there's only a 1-2 faint limit.

However, I'm not sure if the food effect is party wide or it will only affect the person who has it. And by that, I mean if I have the felyne insurance food skill and someone dies and they didn't have the felyne insurance skill themselves, will it count for them or it only counts for when I faint? That I'm not sure about. I haven't figured this out since I mostly solo and just join others if I felt like doing something new.

The Felyne Insurance buff is like a hunt wide kinda of buff, and its a random "daily" felyne buff meaning its not always gonna be avaiable. You can get a full 4man with it on a 1faint mission and essentially make it a 5 faint mission at that point.

There are 3 food skills for each section of ingredient of any type.
To have a chance to activate such skill you'll have to put 2/4/6 ingredients from this section(any type works probably).

There are also daily skills but you probably can't affect those
