On a more serious note, you're doing it right, you simply were quite unlucky.

Actually, there IS a surefire way to get one: complete the weekly bounties, and trade the Gold ticket you get for the Gem at the melder.

Also try using either the Legiana "Good Luck" or Guild Cross "Great Luck" set boni to have them drop from standard quest rewards. These also should stack with the "Lucky Cat" food skill, which you can easily get by using a voucher (and having all the beers unlocked).

If you're tired of farming, you can meld the gem from the elder melder at the cost of a gold wyverian print

You could just get the gem from elder melder. There's new set of critical bounties available for the gold wyvern print anyways.

Or try breaking all parts and cutting off tail before capturing it, more chance of gems that way. Equip your palico with Flashfly cage and kitty of the valley rod alpha (paralysis damage) and maybe try weapons that paralyse. It's weak to that anyways. More time to break parts while it's standing still looking like a doof.

you're pretty unlucky to do 8 invests with 2 golden rewards and get none, gold rewards are 13% chance at gem and silver 6% for ody... only thing you could be doing better is with a rare 3 gold invest (or the 'im not sure they even exist' 4 gold invest)

Three things of Kirins armor, two of Legiana, use a voucher to make sure you get the Lucky Cat bonus from the canteen, break everything that you can and try to cut off the tail, and be sure you capture it.

That's the best way to raise the possibility of getting the gem outside of a quest with more gold rewards.

Other than that, your best bet is to do the weekly limited bounties to get that gold wyvern print.

Yesterday, I got myself two gems from odogaron on my 2nd try. And This is EXACTLY what I did

I dunno about you but Im perfectly normal.
This game is baby friendly, you can usually kill things in this game fairly quickly, and since he's kill the doggo over 17 times he'd get better at killing it faster, so stop complaining and keep grinding.

What's complaining on the forums gonna do? Is it gonna increase your drop chance? ♥♥♥♥ no.
