I'm considering an all purpose build like how cera coilbender is for bows

It depends. Do you prefer raw damage, or the ability to ignore monster attacks and keep up a stream of damage? What's your preferred playstyle? I prioritize earplugs above all others because being roared out of an attack combo or out of the sky is just bad.

I have an Earplugs 5 all-purpose raw damage build, an all-purpose elemental-crit build, and TED-specific builds that are (mostly) decorations friendly.

Edit: The above video's builds would be amazing... assuming you can find the decorations. They're very dependent on not being disabled by roars/etc. as well.

DeFragged, can you share your all-purpose sets please?

These are slightly older setups I have, but they're relatively Decoration friendly.

Note that the raw damage build is heavily dependent on the non-elemental jewel boosting output, otherwise you're better off with the elemental crit build.

Even without the rarer gems you'll still get mileage out of these, as most of the gems are just to augment the missing skill levels. I generally modify the decorations to fit the hunt I'm on.

The most important point is that you can continue attacking through roars, reposition with vaults, and generally be a mounting machine.

You'll want to stay on the ground for most of your DPS combos anyway.

I will share mine later. Not on pc right now.

But its the same generic NEB build with blos IG. The only differance is using power prolonger.

This is my all purpose build for glaive atm.

Note#1: you can replace the critical boost decos for evade window to get it to 5/5 if you feel that the 3/5 iframes aren't enough for you.

Note#2: you can go 5/7 attack and use the 3 1level deco slots to max w/e stat you like e.g vitality, stun resistance, recovery up, speed sharpen etc.
i really dont understand why vice is the go to raw damage glaive, its nice in most regards but that raw is pathetic (also i think speed boost is way overrated), diablos glaive is so much higher and health boost means more auto attacking kinsect

You'll want a master's touch 100% affinity build, easy to make and easy to play. When Behemoth comes out you'll have a v2 of this build which is going to be even more powerful. Odogaron's glaive is really nice for this.

1. Inherent Affinity
2. Automatic white sharpness negates the need for Handicraft skill
3. White Sharpness actually BOOSTS your damage output by about 20-30% (there're articles on google) - this means the RAW damage is not the ACTUAL damage you see.

I've tested both weapons across various builds with all sorts of skills (no augments, since Shaft Streamstones REFUSE to drop for me) and while the Diablos Glaive has higher inherent raw with a similar build, its affinity penalty means you're getting crits far less often and wasting more slots to get to a decent Affinity rate. This means a very inconsistent DPS output, and more often than not I find it hits for less damage.

Vice has the advantage of being VERY easy to produce consistent DPS output - even if you're not striking a weakpoint you still have a far higher crit chance than a Blos weapon.

A Vice crit hit with the raw damage build does about 7-9 points more damage per hit vs. a Blos non-crit hit (tested in Training Grounds).

With a Vice I can get 95-100% crit hits on every strike which produces consistent damage output, and have the advantage of high sharpness values cutting through hard points and preventing bouncing for longer, while the Blos is unreliable and mercurial.

Now, if I had Affinity Augments to offset the Blos's -30% affinity, then the Blos WOULD be the clear winner - but that's letting RNJesus take the wheel and actually giving me the streamstones I need (which I literally have NOT gotten a single Warrior's Streamstone: Shaft so far. Ask my 7 hammer, 6 blades/swords, 8 Lance and 6 ranged streamstones!).

With at least one (maybe two) affinity augments, the Blos glaive would outdps the Vice since each crit hit is easily 10-12+ damage more than a Vice's crit hit - easily tested by maxing out affinity on both weapons and recording the results per-hit.

tl;dr -
White Sharpness boosts damage per hit.
Vice crit is +7 vs. blos noncrit hit
Blos crit hit is +10-12 vs. Vice crit hit
Blos cannot crit as often so loses the DPS advantage over time

Note: I don't have my damage per hit notes with me but the numbers should be fairly close to those values.

Can you please PM me a good build for IG. My friend is RC 49 and we have no idea what to farm right now to have optimal dps in Tempered monsters.

Nergigante set + Rathalos chest with catastrophe's light is the best build imo. Its really Decoration friendly, just 1 attack and 1 weak point (3 decorations of your choice). 100% affinity (when the monster is on rage) + tons of heal with nergigante armor
Smug Kot Sep 14, 2018 @ 12:36pm
Ground: elementless
Air : elemental

easy ez.
