And yeah, it's totally worth picking up a Gaja knight or sniper in Elder's Recess if you're running solo. Plus you can use their shortcuts there, too!
This, it's worth the hasle, unlike the others you don't ned to mount the monster, just bring it to them and they will nuke the ♥♥♥♥ out of them. besides that, the tailraiders them self are pretty decent. i usually favor them over the other teams.
Now, how to actually befriend them on a mission, you'll need to find group of Gajalakas with green circles above their heads(like with other grimalkyne tribes), those will not attack and will join you, if there's no green circle above - you can't be friends with those.
