Once you start crafting and upgrading stuff past Rarity 7 is when you'll begin running out of zenny. Armor and weapon upgrades for high tier gear is expensive.
it does get expensive but if you consistently keep your parts page cleaned up you have more than enough always.
if you always sell except for what you're activley farming you'll find you have millions. if you're like me and keep and hoard everything you can just sell of what you need to get what you want, like excess ores and bones or parts > x15
like i keep 200k, give or take, any lower and i open up the parts page and sell off the high stack values and im back at a mil until i run low again.
I recently maxed out (i think) the rathian and deviljho gunlance upgrades and those were easy enough on money. Just that stupid deviljho gem that was a pain. Are there other ways to upgrade weapons later or am i just done on that part of the game? Besides making other specialized gunlances or trying other weapon types anyway.
Yeah, see, I don't sell off crafting mats at all. I'd much rather keep that stuff around just in case I want to craft other weapons or armor, and I run high zenny investigations with lucky vouchers and the bandit mantle for cash. A 50k investigation turns into a 100k investigation with a voucher, so it's really not hard to grind for zenny anyway.
after tempered fights you will sometimes get augment pieces (lance ones) and you can give your weapon either +attack, +defense, +life steal, +slot, +affinity.
affinity is almost never wrong, attack doesn't do as much as affinity. slot is flexible, and lifesteal is infinitely better than defense, its a convenience pickup.
they're pretty rare but it does upgrade your weapon further.
what can you do with 99 rathian scales that you cant do with 15?
(sean connery voice)
And those augments sound cool. nice to know theres more in store for my explosive pokers
Make six different weapons and both Alpha and Beta versions of the Rathian armor.
edit: Wait are you talking about scale or scale+?
it doesn't matter, you're not going to use the armor pieces or the weapons ever. and if you want them you go out and get them, not craft them on a whim.
the only reason to keep 99x of any part is if you're a collector trying to make one of everything. but then, after that point, then you do you begin selling off extra parts? because every part you're not currently using or planing on using, is extra.
the point of reserving 15 is for the splurge moment when you do feel you want X item, at this random point in time for seemingly no hunt related reason. or you want to try something.
You don't know me.
Or... If I already have them, I can just keep them and use them if I do decide to craft them on a whim.
You're missing the most obvious reason: BECAUSE I WANT TO.
but now you're zenny restricted, you cant make enough money from hunts unless its a constant zenny upsurge and not playing multiplayer.
Trade-in items are only there to be sold. However I do keep them so I can have a complete inventory. Unless its a gold egg they sell for a pittance though. Its much more lucrative using bandit mantles, selling excess mats, and using vouchers on high-zenny investigations (with accompanied need for something that investigation monster drops).
