i just LOVE how ADORABLE the felynes are.

i've been playing MH World since august 28th and good god...i still can't get over how CUTE the felynes are...they are so much cuter than they used to be.
first monster hunter i played was the PSP one. and they were cute then...but not as cute as they are now.

They're cute now, but they're borderline irrelevant to the game world. A huge step back compared to how relevant MH4U made them, and how MHX even allowed you to play as a felyne. You even could use two felynes at once in MH4U, and now we're back to only one felyne that barely does anything at all other than talk to these grimalkynes and not much else.

They've always been the cooks in Monster hunter, but they could cook a lot more for you in MHFU where you had to hire about 5 chef felynes and train them. They don't do much else in MHW, compared to what MH4U did for them.

And someone actually made a build to get the roles of the hunter and felyne swapped. Like the felyne got boosted and fight the tempered elders, while the hunter needs to make sure it stays >50% of health to continously deal dmg.

Yes, but we have the Meowscular Chef. He's worth 4 felynes by himself, AND he has 6 felyne cook assistants!
edit: actually, I forgot about the other assistants up above, he has more than 6!

Interesting note, according to Hunter's Guild law, they are equal citizens to hunters and enjoy the same legal protection from abuse.

Excuse me? Do you have any idea how many buff / heals / traps my cat puts out in a regular basis? He's the true MVP

Also, Palico is just how a hunter's companion Felyne / Felyne hunter is called.

Wish you could play as your palico because I'm sure they'd get rid of all those irritating animations you had when playing prowler in gen like coming to a grinding halt when faceplanting off of every single ledge, having a dodge that has half an eternity of recovery or a boomerang aiming system made of pure aids.

From my understanding in MHF4, A Palico is more or less a position or title given to felynes who are efficient and can be purposed to hunting monsters; the felyne equivalent to a "monster hunter", you could say.

It makes sense that a majority of felynes in the New World are palicos given it's, well, a new world that's a safe haven for elder dragons. The felyne chefs are still considered as "felynes" (soup and oven felyne, etc.)for example. Closest to a civilian is the "Housekeeper", which I'm unsure if he is referred to as a "palico" in his dialogue.
