How long does it take to unlock coop?

Hey guys, for those who already played it on console, can you answear me how many quests/tutorials do I have to do until I can start playing with my friends?

It's really fast. You have like 4 missions to learn how to play then you're good to go (and honestly, it's kinda fast. With cinematics and such, maybe an haour and half maximum if you take your time?)

Just know that you have to watch the cutscene for a mission before you can do it coop. If you're wanting to go through the campaign with friends, the best way to do this is everyone start it independently and watch the opening cutscene, then quit and join one person's game.

Yes, it's really stupid. Yes, they should have patched it already. But it isn't that big a deal once you get used to working around it.

Once you beat the first "mission" to eliminate jagras, then you unlock co-op. There will be a prompt to tell you when you unlock it. Co-op in this game is weird though, if you want to co-op on the story quests or "assigned" quests you have to usually watch the cutscene for the quest solo, and then leave the quest and then you can join your friends to do that quest. However the optional quests you are free to do right away without having to watch a cutscene.

Is there Urgent Quests like the other MH? (Quests you need to do to advance your hunter rank)
If yes, can I advance rank finishing UQ posted by other players, or do I still have to finish my own quest?

They streamlined it now so urgent quests aren't hidden in with normal quests, now all the urgent quests will be under "Assigned quests" and all normal quests are under "Optional quests".

So if you just want to progress story you could just do the assigned quests one after another, however the optional quests can lead to getting better mantles, more food options, bigger farm, etc. So it's good to just pace yourself and do them both.

There are also no urgents and typical HR progression like in old games, but yes I believe if someone else posts a quest you will get the credit for it, so long as you are in the quest within the first 5 minutes of it starting.

If you join an SOS for an urgent quest when the quest is almost over, I don't think it counts.

You can advance your main questline by teaming up in multiplayer with other people, even if you don't host :)

I don't get co-op at all in this game. My friends and I are playing solo and just got at the Rotten Vale. Every time we try to play together it says something like "You need to progress further". I'm about to give up on this game...

Rotten vale? First two cutscenes are for Radobaan and Great Girros, area 1 (To the right from camp) and area 6 (Go to the left from camp and down the ramp at area 3).
