Gathering Points on Map
Do gathering points get saved on the map of a region only after you have discovered them?

Yes. You don't need to gather from them to save them on your map, but I think scoutflies need to identify it first, so even if you see a gathering point but scoutfiles don't tag it, it won't be saved. But I am not 100% sure about that last part.
