exacly how much space do you have? it is possible that you have enought to download it but not enought to unpck it?
You need basically double the space free to unpack it. Steam needs the space for both the download and the install simultaneously, then it deletes the download once it's installed. Delete some more stuff.
You should ideally always have at least 10% free on HDDs (for defrag to work) and 15-25% free on SSDs (for write cache and to preserve cell endurance) anyway. You can't just pack the drives full. I mean, you can, but you shouldn't.
