Don't be too proud to slot in Fortify. Consider using flash pods defensively, to give you breathing room when you need it. Consider using either Orchestra (buffs + stun resistance) or Vigorwasp (healing + 1 free revive) on your Palico. Eat for defense rather than attack. Bring the Temporal Mantle and time it for use when Narga is enraged to give you some leeway. I suggest also using Rocksteady Mantle, since it can save you from a knockdown/stun combo. And make sure to rearrange your item bar to make it easier to reach what you need, and command your Palico to use a skill when you need it most.
Bring expensive items for expensive fights. Mega Armorskin and Mega Demondrug will never hurt you. Max and Ancient Potions will heal you much faster than any normal drink in a pinch. Might Pills are great for wake-up attacks. Consider using traps just for the stun.
There's one important detail that limits the advice we can give, though. What weapon are you using? The strategy for fighting Narga changes drastically depending on your weapon, same as it does for every other boss. I won't tell you what weapon to use, since every boss can be defeated with any weapon. You just have to know how.
I beat it using Behemoth's armor, if that counts.
Just don't fight him in that stupid sloped area of Ancient Forest because he glitches out and teleports through terrain or floats in the area and it busts his hitboxes.
For armor I had assorted Iceborne crap resulting in +50 HP, maxed attack and like 3 Resentment and a point of Aquatic/Polar Mobility (don't remember the rest).
Was pretty easy tbh. The extra HP really lets you get away with a lot of stupid plays (as do dual blades).
Just don't get hit by his tail spikes or tail slam, especially if you don't have maxed HP. Rest is pretty irrelevant.
Beat the main story today. I think I change my armor after Tigrex.
Agree on other comments like bring mega drug potions. I used it when I'm on assigned quest to finish the story. On optional I do not use it to practice movements of the new monsters. I just want to finish the story mode fast as I can.
Ironically that's all i did and defeated him lol.
No traps, no flash, no restock, no deaths. Just winged it and kept my hp full.
