Obtaining the BoaBoa Questline.

I've been playing up till the Acidic Swordy Boi quest and have not yet gotten the first quest from the Lynian Researcher. Anyone have any idea what I might need to do to get the questline started? I have gotten all the other grymalkynes and gajalaka's completed.

I just completed the quest line earlier today.
I think, to trigger it, you have to to the Lynian Researcher in Seliana and / or in Hoarfrost Reach.
Try either of those, it should give you a 'critical' bounty. :)

You probably need to explore a significant portion of Hoarfrost Reach first. Try launching a basic quest like "Deliver 20 Butterburs" and thoroughly exploring the place, before turning it in. Maybe setting up some of the camps is required, as well as meeting and smashing up some Boaboa in an Expedition so you "confirm" their existence?

It'll pop eventually if you keep playing, it might be Assignment related (I.E you might need to unlock Master Rank Tailraider Safaris first) but that's unlocked very soon into the expansion.

Just keep playing as usual, cleaning up Optional quests, check back with Selania each time until the quest pops up. Sorry I don't have any solid 100% information for you, other than "it just works" lol.

You need to do an expedition in Hoarfrost Reach, roam around until some scouts starts to follow you. From there on, you need to fight a monster in the region, once beaten, you can talk to them and start their questline.

To further expand on this, you need to do this alone (Or maybe you can take a second player along).
If you go into the expidition mode on the map your cat partner will have an exclamation mark over its head in the camp and talk with you. Afterwards when you head out to hunt it will tell you that the BaoBao are gathering to witness your hunting prowess.

Go for a single target you can defeat easily and during the fight more and more will gather, plus your partner will chime in about how they are impressed by your hunting prowess, etc.

Once you kill the monster they will invite you to their camp. I think you need to talk with your cat companion back in the camp again for that to trigger too.
