Is the High Res texture pack worth it?
On a fairly high end system that can support it? Is it insanely taxing?

As long as you have 8GB or more VRAM, you're good. As for quality, it's definitely better but that's up to you whether you want to download I believe an additional 40-80GB.

An extra 40GB on top of the 40GB update I just downloaded earlier. That's 80GB total on top of what the base game is is well over 100 gigs

How taxing is it though? Going to high res from highest

As long as you have the required amount of video memory, it shouldn't tax your system at all. Textures don't really impact FPS the same way other settings might. It's more of a "if you have the memory, you're fine; if you don't, welcome to Stutter City"

I have heard of people successfully using the HD textures on 6GB cards, and I imagine it's probably fine. I'd feel better with 8+ though, and that's a given if you're running higher resolutions.

I wouldn't worry @fade, 11GB is more than enough to run HD pack in 1440p. Hell, it could do 4k.

you just need enough memory on your gpu to run it properly.

if u have 11 gb you can probably play on 4k monitor, it will do 2k very easily.

I assume it'd require more for higher res and refresh but I'm getting a flat 60 fps at all times unless there is major carnage happening. I noticed it dip to 54 fps once during a massive set of explosions but it doesn't make that much difference to performance in my experience,
i7-6700k 4.0Ghz -- 1080 (8GB) -- 16GB RAM
