I think everyone has gotten better or at least for those who have grind many hours on the base game. U may get a cart here and there but its difficult to completely fail the quest unless doing something stupid like killing monster in capture quest. This goes for all monsters even the tougher ones ...

subspecies force you to adapt.
this fight forces you to put 3 poison res gems in ur loadout.
then its the same as every other fight.

Barioth only spams the stomp which doesn't have a hitbox appearantly, I always got tremored instead of hit even though I was messing up the timing every time. Remember that all Flying Wyverns get boned if you tenderise their wings and go ham on them.

Having drachen/gamma armor does helps a lot

You can also just take the cleanser booster and herbal meds for when it's on CD and have a pretty relaxed time of it.
