40 GB Update without buying Iceborn??

WTF? How do you get off updating us with a 40GB download when we haven't even decided to buy the update? Assume much? If this patch is for all of the bugs your game has, I'd prefer a refund at this point.

There's a bunch of graphical changes being made with the DX12 support and FidelityX(spelling lol) that's been added even to the non-expansion people. I dunno how much that affected the update size.

Because MHW is an online game. Just cause you dont own iceborne, doesnt mean you cant have players who do have iceborne join your games.

Still, the original game was like 30GB. A 40GB update for content I didn't purchase seems more than excessive.

Hehe I was going to open same topic here "why the f I am downloading 40 gb even I didn't buy the iceborn?". Cause download stucked at 10gb and I don't have more hdd space. Now I cannot play game because of nothing. It is great idea to enforce non Iceborn owners to uninstall their games.

Being online game doesn't mean you should download all the content even you don't have. When you buy world of warcraft, you don't have to download any of the expansions. Same goes for many games.

Capcom is a disastrous company when it comes to updates. In street fighter same s happens. Every time you have to download same street figher files when update comes. This is not because of nature of the online games but this is because of bad design. No you don't have to download a ♥♥♥♥ because of it is an online game. We are in 2020 and while we are talking about microservices and such distribution techniques, Capcom is still designing their dlcs with "my gamers will buy whatever I say" mentality.

Uhh, not sure if you are aware, but even if you dont buy the expansions to wow, you STILL have to download all the content. Because again....as i said above, when your playing an online game with other players you will STILL see players that do have the expansion and have expansion items.

Actually, you don't download instance data/textures/such s. You don't have to download what you will never see in the game even it is not in the expansion. If you will never join to x instance, you have an option not to download that environment.I am not sure you even know what is installed on your computer. This tech was there since 2000 or such.

40 gigs without iceborne DLC, but does this mean when i do buy it, that i do not need to install anything else as someone mentioned above we were getting graphical\other improvements?

Well i did have to download 80GB for the content that i DID purchase. You're essentially complaining about all the free stuff that you got, even tho not purchasing the DLC. New renderers, graphic options and generally new/reworked code naturally takes up some space. That the update for non-owners of the DLC is that large goes to show how much they actually GIVE you for free. Stop complaining about 40GB of QoL improvements.
