Size of the game.
So ive read bout the size of the Iceborne which is 48GB, wondering if thats the size of Base game + Iceborne? Or just Iceborne itself?
48GB is too way too large for an "DLC"...

Required Space for Iceborne

The game requires the following total space, regardless of whether you have purchased Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, are updating from Monster Hunter: World, or are installing the game for the first time.
Game: 48GB required
High Resolution Texture Pack: 45 GB required (optional)
An extra 300MB of free space is required for save data, and is not included in the figure above.

The total amount of space required is 48GB. It doesn't say that is the size of the update.

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here estimating the download at around 40-50gb so I wouldn’t be surprised

48GB is the high resolution pack. 45GB is the dlc. Anyway on the patch note it says no matter whether u own IB or not, no matter u r installing MHW for the first rime or r updating from the base game, you need to download 45GB. I imagine that this download does not only adds new content but also rewrites the old content. This maybe why mods do not work with IB.

Wasn't the high resolution texture pack already 45 GB? So will it be double the size or are the iceborne textures in the pack already?
To be fair this "DLC" adds about as much content as the base game had. So it's no surprise the file size would be rather substantial.

It literally adds 31 new monsters, the base game had 31 new monsters on release. It adds a new hub area, two new areas to explore, new weapons, armor, and what not. So yes, about as much content as the base game.
The file sizes specified don't seem to coincide with reality, though. The MHW site lists 20GB required for the base game. I listed what the IB page states in my previous post. The high-res texture pack is supposedly 45GB, but Steam lists it as requiring 70GB. And then there's my actual game directory, with the high-res pack, clocking in at 56.8GB. So the takeaway should be that nothing is accurate and nobody *really* knows, not even Capcom.

Likely comparable in size to all previous locations. I can't give you an exact estimate.

It's bigger than any of them. An Ancient Forest and a half, I would say.

It is bigger than the base game and it has a larger end game than the base game.
