Question about white sharpness.
I know white sharpness gives extra damage, but does it give better cutting? Like, with white I seem to be able to cut diablos horns, with blue, I ding off?

Better cutting no, but it won't bounce off some parts where blue sharpness will.

For the information if you're interested: blue sharpness is 1.2x raw damage (and about 1.06 elemental), while white sharpness is 1.32x raw damage (and 1.125 elemental).

Numbers come from previous MH games, but they are very likely the same in MHW.

Mhmm have never heard anything about this so probably not

obviously if you are actually bouncing off you aren't doing damage so you aren't gonna cut anything in a timely fashion

Also diablo's horns aren't "cut", they are broken off

It's a damage multiplier so technically you are doing more damage to a part as well.. so... in a way - yes?

White sharpness allows you to attack without risk of bouncing off.
Also more damage.

I see, sorry, I worded it improperly! Point is, the blue sharpness results in a bounce, white doesn't, which is what made me curious if it cut or sliced better. Sorry for the wording, thanks for the answer!

You'll still bounce off some things, just extremely rarely. Example: Lavasioth's Obsidian Armor

There are different kinds of hard parts. With white you can actually attack some more .. like the blos horns.. barroth hardening and so on.

Pfft, I just keep my sword charged up :D. CB life is marvelous.
You know when you hit a monster and that just bounces back? White sharpness cuts through like Anthony suilvan’s knife into a thanksgiving turkey while he’s dry humping your mom.

Decimation Claws. They're awesome, but blue sharpness means anything sturdier than a block of butter will make them bounce xD

Most heavy attacks with blue sharpness don't bounce off diablos horns or barroth mud, they just deal less damage to the parts until they are broken
Light attacks on the other hand bounce off most of the time.(my experience with ~50h CB)

don't aim directly for the horn as long as you don't use sticky ammo, gunlance shots or charged db attacks
aim for the back of the head of diablos, it is the weakspot, where you do much more dmg while breaking the horns too

1 example of white sharpness helping is hitting pink rathian torso, white can cut, while blue will bounce off.
