This game has the worst hitbox system I have ever seen, maybe It's still better than older MH titles.
Fighting a Black diablos is the worst of them all. Imagine using a kinsect to jump 10 feet above a monster but somehow there is an "invisible wall" smack you down to the ground. Or standing a good distance behind a monster but still get hit when it moves forward, even monster tails are 3 times bigger but you can't see. It's frustrating to play when you continuosly lose but it is not your fault. I hope somebody was able to mod and fix this problem.

If you insist on going aerial, don't take the red essence so you don't spin for too long mid air. Use the normal B move, chip it slowly and get out to safety when you need to. Without the spin you move around much faster in air, can pivot around much faster. maybe don't use the white too so you don't jump as high which lets you get back on ground faster.

MHXX also sometimes have annoying hitboxes when you go aerial. It seems overlooked, not as accurate as ground hitbox. Any weapon can go full aerial there. I miss it.

I fought a lot of black diablos so far in MHW, on ground their hitbox seems solid so far.

Still my favorite vid to post about MH hitboxes. To OP, they have never been MH's strong point, but you learn to deal with it eventually, from getting hit by the wind coming off the attacks, to charges clipping into walls causing them to go sideways into you.

i find black diablos to be pretty annoying as well
but i dont rly think his hit boxes r broken - his tail is moving all over the place and he can change direction in several atks so u can get hit pretty easily

i havent been able to learn his atks properly yet but i think that once you do it becomes easier (like any other monster)

nergigante is hardly an example - he clearly throws spikes forward which increase the range of the 'punch'.....
and if u r close enough to the tail - a tail atk will hit u... like in any other monster
his super dive is kinda ridicoulus but its on the same idea - shotting his spikes and creating a ridicolous hitbox

The worst ever? No. Inconsistent as to what should or shouldn't hit you, making the learning curve more of a learning valley of hills? Yes and no.

The hitboxes tend to be weird sometimes, but that matters mostly when you take risks. Waiting for the right openings will rarely punish you, but taking a random risk has a higher chance of punishment over reward.

charge blade does feel like it has one issue though and i know from experience of trying to do this time and again, to the point i recorded it. the time between your weapon being fully sheathed, and the being able to fire your slinger is waaaaaaaay too long compared to other weapons. it s like while moving your character will do a full swing of his arms for walking animation before you get to fire your pod. and its only CB i notice this with.

Haven't fought black diablos, but insect glaive aerial attacks worked with regular diablos as long as I made sure to avoid charge and tail attacks. Going at him from the side between attacks seemed to be the best. Now if black diablos has a different hit box I can't speak to that. But every time I got knocked down it was because I attacked at a wrong angle at the wrong time.

Leap of faith is helpful on that fight, can't get too greedy with damage either, it pretty much forces you to use traps, slinger ammo and other items if you want to beat it under 15 minutes.
If you take it slow and wait until you've got a chance to hit him with your elemental discharge, you can start staggering him like crazy and do a ton of damage, the key is patience.

I've only fainted 3 times in the game so far. The game is not hard. Doesn't change the fact that the hitboxes are terrible, though. Because they are.

I second that, I think the OP is just trash at mh. The hitboxes are fine.

Sorry but... this is sad. Yes glitches can happen with the hit boxes.Just like any game, and any feature. but so far the only video you've shown is against one of the smallest monsters in the game for a glitch happening with a hitbox.

Hitboxes are designed very interstingly, in this game and it makes for great combat.

Monster's hitboxes constlantly change for certain attacks for numerous reasons.

Nergie's tail forinstance where you said he was Oriented to the right? He was right next to the base of the tail, The thickest part of the tail. He has spikes on his body as well that are just always there that expands it by up to a 'ingame' foot up to an inch of hitbox for us. His tail swipe could be expanded by a tenth of an inch or so for the animation.

Diablo's hitboxes i feel like are some of the hardest to fight because (She?) is a massive creature using the rathalos skeleton combined with some very quick and heavy animations. At times i considered Diablos being faster than Rathalos in close quarters.

the hitboxes match well and honestly... from the years of darksouls ive played i would have loved these hitboxes than theirs... these are well done, and DS's was done to screw the player over... (But hey this is just my thoughts.)

P.S.; Atleast you don't have beetlejuice mounting you when your trying to kill a rathy or other monster....

Expecting a flawless game made by humans, grow up lol. It's not as big of a problem as you make it out to be, it reall isn't.
