Most useful skills/abilites for longsword
Now that I have a new shiny sword(divine Slasher) I wonder what armor pick.
Usually people go for affinity but I wonder if I can get similar results with increased sharpness, jump master and some raw attack boost.

Now I'm using KO charm with armor picked based only by looks :steamhappy:

Any tips are welcome!

Non elemental boost, handicraft for white sharpness, protective polish
Yosh Sep 1, 2018 @ 12:31pm
Dragonking Eyepatch
Dober Mail B
Kaiser Vambraces B
Nergigante Coil B
Nergigante Greaves B
Handicraft Charm III

Mighty Jewel
Sharp Jewel
3x Critical Jewel

So your skills would be as follows:
Attack Boost Lv. 4
Critical Boost Lv. 3
Weakness Exploit Lv. 3
Handicraft Lv. 3
Maximum Might Lv. 2
Protective Polish
Non-elemental Boost

People stack Affinity due to it being the most efficient area of damage skills in the game. Weakness Exploit 3 is mandatory for any weapon that isn't cluster/sticky HBG or such for this reason, and skills such as Maximum Might, Attack Boost to level 4, and Critical Boost are meta as well because of this.

When we're talking about the Divine Slasher specifically, its strength lies in the ability to obtain White sharpness as well as run Non-Elemental Boost. You need at least Handicraft 3 to get White, although Handicraft 5 is usually recommended. Non-Elemental Boost is a must (it increases your Raw by 10%), and is usually obtained via a decoration. Protective Polish from a decoration is also critical, as it's necessary for making sure you stay at White sharpness as Longsword attacks too fast to stay at White with how little the Divine Slasher has, even with Handicraft 5.

Outside of those skills, as I've already mentioned Weakness Exploit 3 is the most important skill to aim for as +50% Affinity is massive. Due to requiring Handicraft, Divine Slasher sets often don't have much variability and rely heavily on decorations for skills, but you should aim for cramming as much Maximum Might, Attack Boost, and Critical Boost into the set in that order. You typically won't have space for any additional skills, but you might need to settle for them until you get the decorations you need.

KO Charm is absolutely worthless for you FYI as LS cannot KO. Most Divine Slasher sets end up running the Handicraft Charm due to how important it is for the weapon.

Hmm maybe
nergi helm A
nergi coil A/B
kaiser gloves
death stench bootys A/B

I say A/B cause depends on your dectorations

you can max handicraft, weakness exploit and maybe attack with your dectorations/charms

definitely want non elemental boost on it too

Thanks for a lot of information.
So KO charm is pretty much placebo effect for me? If I understand it correctly it should help me with knocking down monsters right?

No, the KO charm increases KO damage inflicted by blunt weapons and other sources, which is different from tripping monsters. KO will knock a monster over like a trip, but for a longer period of time with stars (similar to flash pod stars) over its head. You'll virtually never see a knockout unless you're using Hammer, Hunting Horn, Charge Blade, or have Thorn Pods.
Is the white sharpness worth over Mind's Eye? I really hate bouncing.

White sharpness stops you bouncing, it's one of the best things about it.

youll bounce against almost nothing with white sharpness (only thing i can this of is hardened lavasioth armour/blackened nergi spikes), longsword also gets minds eye by default on spirit attacks

Yes... I know spirit attacks dont bounce.. It's building up the *gauge* (Spelled this one wrong) sometimes tends to get annoying against monsters with hard parts.

again, sharpness is what determines whether attacks bounce; white sharpness stops you bouncing on most things (including kush wings)... the only two exceptions i can think of are hardened lavasioth armour (when its been out of the magma for a while) and blackened nergi spikes (if they dont get broken off then they eventually turn black, if he has a bunch of black spikes he does a divebomb and sheds them all)

*edit* it also affects damage, white sharpness is 1.32* damage and blue is 1.2* (i forget the rest)

Can you stop with all this stuff I didnt ask for?
I already read your post and got the message loud and clear. I dont need no information of an in depth guide of Lavasioth or Nergigante's hard spots or their attack pattern.

The only thing I did was reply to your response regarding spirit slashes having bounce-proof strikes.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your response, but please refrain from answering more than you need to.
