xeno 3 piece is pretty good, 2 of it's set also have special ammo 3 that boost wyvernheart/snipe.

Don't really think there is any 'early HR' bowgun, it's more like what do you want to use in the end and build towards it while playing. But if you want to tryhard, probably just go with Legianna HBG that focus on pierce shots.

If you're in early HR, you're too early to be thinking about 'good' armour.

Diablos line for normal, Ore/Nergi line for spread, Legiana line for pierce, Zorah line for cluster/sticky. Anjanath line isn't the best there is, but it offers a wide spread of ammo types for trying things out, I used that for much of the game until I was ready to go more specialised.

dragonking eyepatch, xeno alpha gauntlets, xeno alpha coil, xeno beta legs and for chest slot dober beta + attack charm or rath soul beta + ammo up charm are both good options

this is a basic and semi easy farmable setup that works well with HBG
