is effluvial too strong?
just wondering if anyone else feels that getting their health stuck under 50% + losing all that health until debuff removed and healed, there isnt any sort of debuff that is nearly that bad. Im not saying that you cant effectively combat that, but in comparison to any other ailments, nothing holds a torch to how much damage is dealt in the shortest amount of time (instantly). fire damage and poison damage do pretty much nothing in comparison, even if you get super unlucky with a stunlock you wont lose as much health as effluvial will do.

TLDR: is effluvial too strong?

slot 3x miasma gem and you are immune to it.

problem solved

It would be if the actual dragon producing it had a dangerous moveset, the dude is quite literally a vegetable.

Nullberies. I dont even need miasma gems for that. Maybe for AT Vaal later. You only have to watch out for his 3 hit combo.. thats literally it.
Greb Aug 29, 2018 @ 11:24am
No. It's an Elder Dragon, and his core ability. It's easy to manage, and there's like 8 Nulberries u for grabs in the immediate area where you face him - you have literally no excuse to not cure yourself from it if it afflicts you.

The only times it's really dangerous is if you're unlucky enough to get hit right as the effect cuts your health in half - but that's just bad luck / lack of skill (ya shudda dawged, git gud skrub!) and that one thing he can do where he sucks your life away, or whatever it is, suddenly anyone stricken with Effluvial buildup is DEAD. Quite insidious really, but totally manageable.

The fact you can just put his leggings on and slot like one / two Miasma Jewels into them and you're 100% immune to it is just icing on the cake.

It'd be like removing Daora's wind shield and / or whirlwinds because they're "too strong" and "make melee impossible" thus turning poor Daora into just another boring dragon.

It's not too strong. Even the damage (100 HP maximum, if you were sitting at 200 HP when it triggered) isn't that much, compared to some attacks in the game. I think it should stay how it is.

I do not believe so.

the countermeasures are
>nullberry
>immunity mantle
>3 decorations 'miasma'
>distance
>a reliable friend with a condition resist song on the guitar/bagpipe/blunt hitty thing < - best option as you can stack dank damage decos.

one of these will see you to victory, as each is a hard counter to vaal's effluvium buildup ability, and also assuming you're able to dodge his big sniper beam which throws a lot of raw damage at you. (and not dodging the beam, and not having effluvial countermeasures puts you at risk for his vampire memes)

I am of the belief that an elder dragon should be able to one hit you when you're not paying attention, or not with a good enough loadout.

? Getting unlucky with a stunlock should mean you died. Nothing will top that.

Effluvium also has resistance decorations you could use to counter it.

If anything, Poison and Fire should have their higher blight tiers.

diablos hits harder than any elder dragon in this game, aside from teostra's fire nova.

It's a joke

Um. Effluvia is Vaal Hazak's only weapon and you're saying it's too strong?

And it sounds like you've only fought weak monsters, because if any tempered monster manages to stunlock you, you're dead. Wait until you've fought something that's actually strong, you'll realise taking half your health is actually pretty weak.

Tempered Kirin would like to have a word with you ( Ok, it´s lighning, but still).

Ok, joke aside, it´s fine imo. If you are refering to Hobo Dragon, he doesn´t do that much apart from that debuff.
Kreddi Aug 29, 2018 @ 11:27am
It's not too strong but it is awful design
Same goes for Daora
Calo Nord Aug 29, 2018 @ 11:28am
Not at all, there are even nulberries around the Val fight
Vanessa Aug 29, 2018 @ 11:28am
It... is, but it's easily countered by miasma jewels, and even then superman dive exists.

I'd say it's actually more of a problem fighting non-Tempered story mode Val, especially with ranged weapons where moving to safety is difficult.

Once you get some miasma jewels, though? Meh. S'nothing. Just a big attack that does a lot of damage but is easily negated by superman dive, like Nergi's dive or Teostra's nuke.

I don't like nerf requests from people who die in a game that is literally built around the premise of being 'a difficult game', because they don't like dying in 'a difficult game.'

a lack of player wisdom/research is the joke here. punchline too.

however i didnt say anything about nerf, did I? if anything i pointed out more of a flaw in fire and poison damage. I also didnt say i died to it either, I have no issues with vaal, i just think that it outweighs other debuffs

Considering Vape Hazak is an Elder Dragon, I'd say that ability is appropriately powerful for his tier.
