great gastronome tuna

Does anyone have any information on how to obtain this. I've been fishing since the morning yesterday. I have all the great fish but this one and the Bomb fish. I keep going to AF 4, ER8, WW6. Thank you for the help

Normally in the ancient forest down by the kestodon's spawn at the ocean side. It's also at camp 6 in the wildspire wastes and camp 8 in elder's recess.

Do you just keep resertting the level, or fish out the spot and come back in few minutes.?

we are talking abour the Great size right, because ive spawned there at least 100 times doing this and only get gastronome tuna.Thats why im starting to think leaving the level and going to a different tuna spot isnt working.

He's talking about *Great* Gastronome Tuna spawns, not regular Gastronome Tuna.

I've had luck both resetting the map & fishing out spots in the past to trigger Great versions of fish to spawn, but it depends on if you want to bother with harvesting, fertilizing, petting Poogie, etc. every time you want to reset & go back out on an expedition.

The Great Gastro is incredibly easy to find - simply because it spawns ADDITIONALLY to the existing Gastro. If you see two Gastros, and you will notice two Gastros, then you've got it.

Beyond that, all you need to do is constantly hop back and forth from Wildspire Camp 6 and Elder's Recess Camp 8. They both spawn Gastros and they're right next to your spawn location.

I've caught half a dozen of them so far.

ER east camp and AF 4 has been the most common for me, got about 12+ great tunas while farming great marlin and other fishes.

is that true about there always being two? every video of people catching them its normally the only one there.

i wager the chances are higher in wastespire central camp simply cause it seems easier to just land and fish lol

I can't speak for the other locations, but in the two camp pools I dealt with I never once saw a Great Gastro appear without having its little sister in tow. I never once had the Not-Great Gastro de-spawn to make room for the fatter one.

I FINALLY GOT THE BOI. thank you, two spawned and i got it. thank you if i didnt know that two spawn i would have had to keep fishing and hopeing. it wasnt that much bigger so if it did spawn on its own i would not be able to tell. lol

The only fish that doesn't spawn in tandem with its great counterpart is the King Marlin. The regular version is already a rare fish, so it's random whether even that will spawn. I actually caught a Great King Marlin before I had the regular version.

Old necro for whoever this may help, but I went to the Elder's recess looking for a Tuna as usual, just saw the one, fished a bit, hunted some treasure, came back to a different, larger looking Tuna. And sure enough it was a great one! Not always going to be two with them.
