Tenderizing when playing solo (Dual Blades)
Hello guys, ever since iceborne launched , playing dual blades solo became stressful for me, as light weapons need to do it twice to soften up a part. Being a weapon who has a very short reach and can only reach specific parts of a monster, how do you guys deal with it? it feels like half of the time in my hunts playing solo is spent trying to soften up something

Things don't have to be tenderized 100% of the time. Only exceptions would be if you wanted to break Garuga's wings or something that needs to be tenderized to do meaningful damage, otherwise just take advantage of the opportunities you get but don't stress over it.

A quick tip: when the monster goes into flinch stagger, you can get a slap and an attack off. 3 slaps and a claw attack = a softened part, so those slaps add up and make it more likely that things will soften even if you get knocked out of the attack animation later.

Attack the weak parts that you can reach.

Trying to wound a part in solo with a light weapon is just not worth it.

Wound while using mantles and when the monster is drooling. Try wounding parts you can easily reach since you can't always reach the head or tail. It's also not important for DB to get that many wounds a hunt.

Thing is, you don't. Wounding with light weap is not mandatory since you waste alot of time just for a single part wound. Maybe try to wait for Tundra Region update in GL, they revamp the triple right click combo + claw to wound within a single strike

start the hunt with rocksteady and pods ready. claw twice for soften then send them to a wall. once they get up send them to a wall again. (turning them a total of 3 times before this enrages them preventing the second launch so careful there). repeat with temporal once they calm down or just reup soften with temporal regardless.

this is the basic strategy i use for monsters that actually need softening for db like the brute wyverns. once i get the leg break which makes the legs weak points i abandon softening and focus on just wall bouncing them when possible. you get diminishing returns depending on the hitzone of the part so parts that are already weak dont improve much (considering the time investment) so its better to just leave it be as things are.

It already does that.

Monsters have many openings for these quick light weap clutch claw animation. Try Hbg with wyvern heart clutchclaw animation. You would need to cc the monster first with the longass animation

Don't DBs also have a clutch claw move they can combo into that causes tenderizing damage? I can't remember if one of the recent changes to that move was more tenderizing damage or they don't drop slinger ammo everytime you do it now. (Been awhile since I dual blade'd in MHW)

Either way, that's a good option to use since it seems to have a little bit of i-frames on it, too, if I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

DBs have a clutch claw combo from demon mode off the O combo, you do both twirls then can use the claw as a melee move to latch on. Until next patch though it functions as a normal grab but after DBs/SnS get a couple balance changes you'll be able to instantly tenderize the part you latch onto with an attack while clutched which is nice.

Just endure it until the balance patch.
