I need tips and tricks on how to beat the Gold Rathian with long sword

I'm seriously considered making Lance build because he is such a tool. The farm for the gold rathian long sword is such a painful farm. I fought Gold Rathian 4 times. I fought him Guding Lands and captured him after 4-5 deaths. It was grueling experience and I know I had to do poison resistance. I killed him 25 minutes in the arena, and I feel the dragonator and stones really helped me. The third time I lured him out, but he left after while even thought I only carted once, and just couldn't keep damage him enough to stay.

I finally got 3 Investigations, and my biggest failure happend. It was a capture investigation. He has no skull and he doesn't leave to go to sleep, and I had fought him in for 40 minutes and carted 4 out of 5 times. And then I killed him, and there was no tell except he was exhausted. No skill no limping. This can't keep going. Every attack he does have potetial to do extremly high damage, and I have problem dodging his long range fireball, and get away from his spin, specially when I'm close to a corner.

But the biggest problem is doing big damage, and getting my combos going. Is really hard, as some point he will always do his bycycle kick spin combo, and I will have to dodge, and I have to get my combo up. Most of my strategy is just running away, waiting for the temporal mentle to cooldown so I can clutch claw his face, and do some damage.

I have no idea how much damage I need to his head after he get powered up, and his tail seems impossible to cut. I wouldn't have problem with losing the capture (if they let me carve him) if I got to cut the tail and my surspikes.

I need dodging tips, and just how to stay close to him do the combo. I might make a Lance that is easy to build without heavy farming, as maybe face tank everything, and not be consurne about keeping a combo might the be the best.

I'm not going in and doing that capture investigation again. Only two more tries. I need to not die as much or else the 3 cart and 4 gold investigation will be impossible.

Focus the tenderized head with impact mantle until it breaks, it takes a metric ton of damage then. Don't worry too much about the tail, you can both carve Surspikes and get them from investigation rewards. Her tail is even more resilient than Silver's.

We gone through this for 2 years, CARVE OR CAPTURE doesn't have a different table, you can get all the stuff what ever way to do it. There are no carve specific rewards in this game.

Surspikes from Godl Rathian are carved from thje tail with a whoooping 60% chance compared to the whooping 13% you get from capturing....

So what is it gonna be this time?


Yes, I am aware this is about sharing the 'table'...... but is it not worth the much higher chance? :p

I got one from Guild Land this morning. It was given to me at the reward screen when I check-in with the handler after me and 3 others captured it.

I remembered exactly because:

1. Only happened 12 hours ago.

2. The other 3 were typing in chat, saying none of them got surspikes. I don't want to upset them so I stay out of the conversation.

Yes, so you got lucky with 13% chance on cpature reward.

You odnt have to be a rocket scientist to figure out investigations + tail cuts are the best way to get surspikes.

Curve from the tail that you chopped off during hunt is a different story.

It has is unique curve table.

We are talking about reward from slaying monster (when she is actually dead and you curve her body) VS reward from capturing the monster at the reward page.

In fact, if you want the surspikes so much, but you don't have an investigation. One possible method is fight her in the Arena under 6 star optional quest. Attack no where except the tail with a Severing weapon.

Once it's off, curve it.

Got surspikes? Return from quest. Repeats.
No surspikes? Abandon quest and try again.

Remind you Gold doesn't count as dead. Since optional doesn't count as completed, you can open it immediately after you abandon or return from quest with her being alive.

this is factually false info. surpikes CAN be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ from carves and captures. i just carved 2 of em of one of the first gold raths i killed by accident.

If you have the investigation to fight her a number of time that is. We are talking about players that do not have sufficient number of investigation or enough lure at the guild land here.

Are we? OP has investi's. I have plenty of investigations. I see no reason why with the same rng, you shouldnt have unless you just are MR 70.
