I usually go for full dmg builds, now i know that ppl arent perfect and just because i can solo does not means other can so i wanna switch around my build to co op, since we are 4 ppl we are dealing more dmg allround anyways so, how should i switch my build around? Should i go for wide range? or maybe get myself more defensive to conpensate for my sometimes suicidal actions any tips are appreciated. and for weapon i change weapon depending on my enemy.

Slot flinch free. All you really need.

For multiplayer, Flinch Free 1 is the bare minimum.

If you're worried about your suicidal tendencies, Health Boost 3 and/or Divine Blessing 3 would help lots.

Grab 1 point of flinch free. Stuns in groups are very good since it gives 4 people the chance to just unload on a monster. Health boost 3 is the best if you want more survivability. Aside from that there isn't much difference. Support is nice but higher dps leads to shorter fights which is ultimately easier for everyone.

In my opinion, if you can solo everything with a damage build without much defense, you can also do that in a group. Just pick up 1 Flinchfree so your team mates won't stagger you. Maybe take Life Powder if you wanna support allies with healing.

I think it's often the other way around ... people that switch from group play to solo take more defense cause it's harder as the monster focuses on you. So you shuld be fine in multiplayer.

The more skill the less defense is required.

Be more of a team player. Bring traps so everyone can really lay into the monster, and bring group items like Life Powder, Dust of Life, Demon Powder, Hardshell Powder, and maybe even Herbal Powder.

i had group items and health 3 is must have even for dps build, was just wondering if i need Wide range or something likethat

I never waste a slot for flinch free, just position yourself away from a player when you notice he is reckless and hit other parts of the monster.

For survivability, IMO the best skill by far is mushroomancer followed by speed eating, that is what will keep you alive with instant healing back to full HP after taking damage... almost God mode unless you have a weapon that is super slow to sheathe..

Health boost comes third, only useful against being one or two shot if you took chip damage before hand that you did not heal... Then stun resistance since almost all monsters can stun you and some of them can combo you to death when you are stunned.

I would say if you really want to be the nice jolly cooperation guys, like someone said above, bring life powder, all kinds of powder and wide range. People will love you if you rock wide range.

That's fine but re-positioning is a DPS loss especially for weapons with slow movement and long start up time for the most damaging moves. And it still doesn't guarantee that you wont get tripped considering how many combos reposition players and how many monsters move players with their moving grounded hitbox. Unless you're in full alpha gear or you're a dual blades user, the one slot is easily worth it.

You are right RustleBonez, good point ;)

But the slots are so precious, if i have a spare one, i would put some more health boost for instance.

I think it depends at what point of the game you are, for instance i am currently just before Namielle and the armor i have access to don't allow me to slot flinch without losing a lot in damage or defensive capability.

But end game, it is probably not a problem at all to have flinch perhaps, if every piece of your armor has 3 slots and you have all the essential skills of your build.

It depends the weapon you are using i guess, some weapons require more slots/skills than others.

One of my build is like this right now, so it is tough to put flinch :

Keep your DPS, and use group healing items, like Lifepowder or Dust of Life; if you really want, get the Health Booster tool, but beyond that, you shouldnt have to babysit, if they die, they die

This. Vitality can be useful. Save all your armor spheres for master rank. No point in upgrading high rank armor since it'll be readily outclassed the second you get your first bit of MR armor.

defense charm is a huge waste, but would not go on any hunt without health 3.
dont be the idiot that carts everytime a tempered monster looks at you.

all other defense gems are really optional, sometimes a level of medicine, protection, brace fits into the build with lvl 4 gems, but i would not go after something else.
health 3 is all you need to not get 1-shot.

wide range is horrible if you want to do any damage, only place where its ok is on behemoth with sword and shield.
so many ppl run it these days, that doesnt help, it just makes the hunt longer for everyone.

imo you could either go for earplug 5, and just carry dusts.
Most of the issues you'll ever encounter might be cheese, so health boost 3 and stun resist 3 are noteworthy, but then you have monsters like rathian that will spank you for getting up too soon.
