That being said, Blast is godawful on Shara. Don't use blast on Shara. WAY too much HP, and your blast will run out quickly.
i prefered the rathian ls when helping in coop since it ends up upgrading to be the best ls and comes with poison which is strong for bosses
for shara however i would just abuse the wall bounce and part softening mechanic.
on the first stage you can launch him at a wall twice to set off a trap for thousands of damage skipping large portions of the fight (marked as trap on map). for the second stage i would just hack away at his back legs after softening them. its a pretty long fight the first time through so just chip away at it. (got through with defender ls first time through so its possible by keeping the back legs softened)
Teostra's armour is basically the Uniform for Long Sword, just like Drachen pre-Iceborne.
Weapon wise, yes, Velhana is a decent pick. Another good pick is the new Guild Weapon which you can obtain by killing Barioth in the EVENT quest. (Fought in the Arena without Tent or Canteen). The weapon is located at the bottom of weapon tree list when you look for it at the smithy.
You can get away with not using it pretty easily. It's the uniform because it enables the Shara LS (Best until GR), and is the best raw DPS after GR but makes a lot of sacrifices to be so. If you want better defense and utility, you're not at all forced to use it once you get the GR LS.
Really though, get the velk LS or the Rathian LS. Shara's weak as hell to poison.
600 per is good, and DB applies it like mad, but we're talking not having TCS to push the numbers out.
Also, Safi Shatterblade is best LS because all of the Safi LS have a horrible 180 element/status modifier, and if you're doing barely anything elementwise, blast is always the best pick. Shatterblade is run for everything as a result because the problem with blast is that you can cap it pretty easily if you have a lot of it and then your DPS from blast drops off hard, and shatterblade has extreme raw and low element/status, so it doesn't run into that problem at all.
Also, for DB, they switch OFF of blast after, because they rush him to cap then change. I wonder why that may be. Maybe because once his blast tolerance is really high, blast's DPS falls off a cliff?
