Look man I'm saying green sharpness lets you cut their skin, blue sharpness lets you cut their flesh, white sharpness lets you cut their bones..

..but purple sharpness? That lets you cut their SOUL.

There ain't no coming back from that. When you need something dead, you reach for the ancient Japanese whetstone technique, no substitute.

Very much depends on weapon, situation and build. We'll need a little more info and what you're trying to accomplish/fight.

For some weapons yes. Both Sharra (with handicraft) and Guild weapons can reach purple sharpness and it gives them superior EFR compared to other weapons.

This. Depending on the weapon, purple sharpness is a massive boon if you can achieve it, especially for big damage weapons. It's not so useful for weapons like Gun Lance.

The raw damage multiplier for white sharpness is 1.32, and for purple it is 1.39. This isn't a lot, but for weapons with high raw, it will affect them more. However, the elemental damage multiplier is higher with white being 1.125, and purple sharpness being 1.30.

I'm using SA, golden rath SA looks the best right now. but it only have white.
i'm building for everyday use pretty much.

just wondering if purple sharpness even worth it, if i'm not mistaken white give 1.32 multiplier, purple only increase to 1.39

Which is why I've been seeing a lot of Crit Draw/Element builds for great sword. I imagine doing one with the Royal Venus Palace Great Sword would be amazing against Garuga or Silver Los.

how "high" is it ?

It is and it isn't. You need to do some math and decide for youreslf, ir highly depends on a weapon type and your whole setup.

i'd say very few weapons are worth an entire 5 points in handicraft
plenty of weapons you only need 3 in it and purple will still last long enough

This. I don't even have purple sharp on my Royal Venus GS and I'm still pulling 1K-1.2K True Charge hits with a totally unoptimized set and can usually last long enough to kill an MR1-3 tier monster before I even lose white sharpness.
Purple sharpness is good if you're running Master's Touch and/or Razor Sharp, have a high affinity build, and can consistently hit weak/tenderized spots to avoid losing your sliver of purple.

Most people can't/won't do that, it's much easier to maintain white sharpness, and the damage increase isn't that significant, so it's fine if your weapon doesn't have purple sharpness.

Honestly, you don't even need a white or purple gs if you get creative with your skills/mantles. Doing Dual GS Arena runs on Zinogre make him an absolute joke. If you and your partner are of equal skill (e.g. good with gs against zinogre) you can basically stun/stagger lock him the entire time with crappy blue sharpness great swords.

In all honest, Purple is only needed if you're relying on element; the multiplier for purple isnt as big a jump from white to purple as it is blue to white, I think white is 1,25x and purple is 1,39x? which honestly, isnt a big change; if you can get naturally? sweet, but unless youre running element, it shouldnt be a big stresser
