Trip value for Switch axe?
Do monsters get trip value build up when they tripping? So I can exclusive use axe in the head when they down. When they get up I need only a few axe hit to chain trip them. Or monsters doesn't get any trip build up when they down and I better use sword mode for damage instead.

I tried axe only and monsters trip more easily but not sure what is better between sword or axe when monsters is down.

i cant say exact numbers, but axe witht he power axe mode active deals more trip and part damage. so axe mode is pretty good for that stuff. sword mode will still be better for damage, but axe mode isnt worthless anymore

use axe mode to flinch and trip, use sword mode to do damage

So, Axe Form does have a higher "trip value" to it's attacks compared to other attacks on both SA and other weapons; realistically, youd want to attack the legs more than anything, as trip value there is more valuable than on the head (at least to my understanding); Power Axe deals more damage, as well as more tripping; Axe Form also features A LOT more mobility than Sword, giving you a much better chance at moving and repositioning
Sword Form essentially is just more damage at the cost of mobility; it's your hard hitting form, and if you deal enough damage, you can enter Amped State, which allows for bonus chip damage (which can also apply more element or status as well); Amped state also applies whatever effects your phial has (tho it's very low), meaning you can get in a few extra hits of damage, element, exhaust, etc
You should never be going only Axe or only Sword with SA, you should be switching between the two forms to better fit your situation

I just want to know is axe build trip to downed monsters. Let's say monsters need 100 trip value to trip. Is it trip from power axe apply to downed monsters? So I can use axe to deal 60 to downed monsters then 40 after they get up to down them again. Or it is immune to trip when downed and I need to deal 100 after they get up to down them again.

Sword deal more damage but if use axe only and I can trip them all days then it think axe only is better.

I think the Iceborne patch notes stated that you don't build up trip and KO dmg anymore on downed monsters

Well that was a bummer. If buff from sword mode has any effect on axe mode then I 'd use sword more. It need too many hit to amp sword without focus. After sword amped, mosters get up and I can't use sword mode anymore because monsters like to jump all over the place or fly forever.

It should only take you 8 hits max to charge amped state for sword form, and as I said before, you gotta utilize both Axe and Sword to use SA properly; monster get up right after charging Amped? Switch to the Axe Form to get closer, and use the morph attacks into sword to get that extra damage in

I can do that in base game but in MR I better stay in axe so I can fade slash on demand. It hard to dodge in sword mode.

Thats- That's why you use your morph attacks into axe form; SA got quite a handful of buffs to the morph attacks in IB

For best DPS on a downed enemy, do 1 of these 3.

1. Amped state triple vertical slash, then horizontal slash for hits. Highest DPS this weapon can do, but requires amped state.
2. Wild Swing into transforming slash and keep repeating that. Requires some space to hit accurately on a weak spot, I think 2nd highest DPS for SA
3. Just Wild Swing. It does 25% more damage per hit starting from the 3rd hit. Is pretty precise as well. Great DPS and does not require amped state since axe

You can also try to finish with a ZSD for some extra damage at the end if you're in sword mode.

you can use your clutch and then strait to ZSD if your sword is charged.
this move is almost spammable and if you use it on "safe" body parts its the best dps.

also, power axe dont increese the damage of attacks, only trip and parts damage.

as people said, sword is still better damage, and you should be in sword mode much as you can, but when the monster moves a lot, flying or you are its target, axe mode is better.

Pretty sure the standard damage combo for sword mode from base World is still the best DPS. But ZSD on moving enemies with softened parts is probably the best DPS you can get in that situation. For a monster like Brachydios the rear/tail is relatively safe for ZSD spam, even after already cutting it.
