Iceborn Insect glaive good for solo ?
soo ive played Insect glaive alot on MH4U but in world it always felt weaker for me than my kill time with longsword or greatsword.
Did they patch more about the IG is it better for solo play now and good dmg wise ? i like the playstyle but in mhw the kills where always so slow with it in comparison.

Well obviously if Capcom nerfs the motion values across the board and refuses to buff anything because they don't want another 4U fiesta (but buff the other broken weapons from base world), it'll not keep up with GS stunlocking monsters.
Kinsect buffs are great and it actually deals damage now, applies dust more often or grants triple up extend. Nothing else was added except descending thrust which is really useful for covering distance since it's basically aerial style from GU, incase you have experience with that. It still plays the same as base World except you can catch up to monsters quickly now and do slinger ammo gathering sim because the Kinsect is hella hungry.

I wouldn't say it's significantly different from base World, no. You can buff your kinsect which can be really nice (stamina increase + 3 extract buff duration up or damage up + faster dust application, some glaives can do both simultaneously), you get a new dive move out of aerial which marks and grounds so it's good as a reactionary sort of thing or as an opener, and you can use claw from midair which has some niche use (for example Vaal doing his breath AoE attack, you can just vault and attach to his face and get a claw attack off). All of these are nice additions, but I wouldn't say glaive got a huge overhaul in damage or anything. Also IG is a light weapon, so all the restrictions from other light weapons apply here, too.

To answer your question, it's fine for solo, but I didn't have any issues with it pre-Iceborne either, so our opinions may differ.

This is 100% my opinion, but I think they did improve the insect blade a little bit, especially the new higher rarity insect glaives and kinsects and the new attack which is fun to use, but I don't think it is a very significant improvement compared to pre-iceborne

than i thing i´m gonna do a mix between IG and LS because IG feels more fun but LS is just faster for me, or maybe if i get more into MHW IG maybe i will be better with it, because my LS playtime in this game is way way more than IG

You can do solo just fine with IG or any weapon. But it is a pretty weak weapon and kinda lacks variety, IMO. I went through Base World solo for PC to learn it. And then mostly duo'd the IB part with my brother until the final boss was beaten.

I'm not a pro, but at the end of it all I missed the variety and power of the Switch Axe.

I mean variety wise it has way more than the other light weapons like dual blades or longsword. Gameplay wise and variety wise it feels great for me. But the dmg output could just be higher. Switch axe I didn't play often because it was to much to do on this weapon at first and I'm too lazy
