This is how it's gonna be at MR?

30 minutes slashing this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Rathalos (MR Rathalos) to make the skull icon appear and if it wasn't for the Dam at Ancient Forest, it would have been more 10 minutes i guess. I had 945 of damage, used canteen for Attack (L), used Might Seed every 3 minutes basically, used Demondrug, used 6 Mega Bombs (while he was asleep, my palico had sleep weapon), spammed the claw attack with the weapon attack (pressing Y after grabbing with the claw) with my Kadachi Daito II. I had Critical Boost 2, Weakness Exploit 2, Attack Boost 4, 40% affinity and was hitting his face 70% of the time and was able to cut his tail off. Gotta the boulders to fall on top of him too. Seriously, if this one is this HP sponge i don't even wanna see Azure Rathalos or the new one, because this isn't fun, it's tiresome and annoying. Am i missing something or this is how it's gonna be fighting strong monsters at MR?

A few tips:
- Don't "spam" clutch claw. Use it for the wound or the flinch shot and then leave it alone.
- It sounds like you weren't using flinch shot at all. Wallbanging is pretty overpowered, learn to do it.
- Don't bother with Might Seeds.
- Rathalos flies a lot, use flash pods.
- Kadachi Daito is primarily a thunder weapon, but Rathalos is a bit weaker to dragon.

LS is built to be a bit more technical and aggressive than most other weapons, since it has access to iframes and counters. Maybe you just need more practice with it?

Sounds like monster hunter to me, as much as I love world, I was hoping iceborne would bring back the difficulty, that's was the 1 thing lacking, if you don't like how long it takes maybe it's just not your thing, I mean they give you up to 50 minutes for a reason

Some MR monsters can take very long, but if an MR Rathalos takes you 30+ minutes to solo, you're doing something wrong.

I don't know what gear you were using for those, but if you were using the best stuff and it took you 20 minutes for them then taking 30 minutes in unoptimized gear to beat MR Rath sounds about right for you. If anything it sounds like you're better with LS than LBG.

I don't know what to say other than that a tempered master rank rathalos fight takes me around 7 to 8 minutes, and I'm not a speed runner. The length of time it takes to defeat a monster relies on your ability to beat It.

Seriously? I've been doing HR temp Nergi runs with a lance under 5 min. And I'm not a speedrunner or anything like that.

Nah, some people are just jerks. Learning is part of the game, as is improving. Some people just have this opinion that by the collective power of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, they can imbue skill into others.

Also, Longsword got a lot harder going into iceborne, and if you're not comfortable with countering and staying in red spirit while still landing SHB's reliably, your hunt times will suffer. Best advice I can give it to wall bash monsters, use traps and flashes and use buff items. Also go for maxed critical boost and as much affinity as you can get, attack boost is an extremely minor DPS gain compared to affinity stacking.
