MR gunning question (no weakspots?)
Certain monsters in Master Rank like Savage Deviljho and Nargacuga seem to have no weakpoints from the start of the fight if you're using a bowgun. I'm shooting all over their bodies and all I can find are gray numbers. What am I doing wrong?

Nargacuga's natural weakpoint is its tail oddly enough, maybe its heart is in its tail? As for Deviljho he has no projectile weakspots period. However, to counter this, you can clutch claw and wound his massive tail into a soft juicy large target. It is also relatively safe to wound his tail with clutch claw attacks since he doesn't tail swipe much. Pretty easy if you use a heavy bowgun with wyvernsnipe for the super fast clutch claw attack.

A cat's tail is very sensitive.

I asumme that is in relation to narga's case since essentlly he's a batcat.

It's probably because they balanced Iceborne around spamming the claw to make weak points. Doesn't help they changed how much damage each part takes from the previous games for no reason.

Attacking Narga's tail as a gunner is just frustrating, though, since he's always facing you. Pierce shots meanwhile don't seem to hit enough times to be worth it unless the angle is just right.

What the heck, how is that fair? It's not like it's an easy fight for ranged users with all the spammy jumps he has.

I'll try wounding his tail.

What ammo are you using? Devijho is one of those monsters where Pierce would be really useful, as he's massive and you can rack up a lot of hits by lining up shots so they pass from head to tail. I'd imagine Thunder ammo would also work well.

Just how it is.. capcom does alot of crappy artificial difficulty. Your stamina cap depletes over time and you need to eat rations to fill it back up, would you call that fun and engaging? Just think of it as the 6th or 7th thing on your todo list while circling the monster before you are allowed to have fun and fight it.

Wounding Jho's tail worked wonders, thanks for the tip. I don't know why I have to do that just to do any damage, but whatever.

I don't use WEX with pierce, or elemental, due to those ammo types being better off going for 100% flat crit, or close to it, because you're wasting time trying to weaken every hitzone with those ammo types.

I definitely recommend max might over WEX for LBG pierce or elemental.

I understand why you'd avoid it for pierce, but why elemental? I thought they stopped where they hit?

Nah, element shots are piercing rounds. They just only hit once per zone, so it sometimes seems like they don't pierce.

Guess I'll have to try them again, then. :2018salienbeast1:
