why the hell is there no skip cutscene in 2020 capcom what the hell
we can all go home now
At this point you're more cringe than the story.
The Handler obviously been with the old woman for quite some time and care for her.
The map is a memento for the old woman because it's from someone she knew.
I'm far more annoyed with that the main character doesn't talk because it ruins any sort of immersion.
It sounds more like you just hate Japanese games. I've played plenty with awesome stories.
Few exceptions doesnt change the fact that %90 of their games end up with lazy-a**s generic anime crap of "Friendship and FAMILY was the true POWAH inside uuus! Just beliiiiieeeve in yourselveeees! If you belieeeve we can dooo EVERYTHIIIING" carebear storyline.
LOL yeah, that part made me scratch my head, Negigante is like the ecosystems balancer, yet they go and kill it just because. Honestly most games these days have pretty poor story because its all been done to death, there is only so many ways you can re-tell the same story before no matter what you do it gets stale.
Also, to be fair, it's for the sake of game mechanics that we're killing the EXACT same monsters over and over again and not often for story purposes. If you think about it, shouldn't even the side/optional quests be done just once, especially when the client who gave it to you already gave you the item reward for it?
And for expeditions, do you REALLY need to kill the monsters who are just minding there own business? Are you really going to stick it to poor Dodo again because it's just eating rocks?
Nergigante existed to be the balancer, but since we didn't know that we killed everything he was supposed to kill, leaving him alone to rampage with no target except us, who while wearing Elder Dragon carcasses are essentially on par with an Elder Dragon. The whole "balance" thing is still really well thought out and explained, just sometimes you have to look for it. But yes obviously you have to take that with a grain of salt and maybe some stretches here and there, because this is a game about fighting monsters afterall. It just wouldn't make sense for us to say "Ah let's kill all of them EXCEPT this one. He's a good boy" after we just got done carving his dinner into little wearable bits.
After all, who is to say we even KILL Nergigante. Ruiner is the same one from base World that we "killed" but he didn't die because his Wolverine like regeneration essentially makes him immortal. But it was already stated in the Lore that whenever we fail to fully kill basically any monster on a hunt, after they nurse their wounds they grow stronger and sometimes evolve, which is how we get Tempered/Arch Tempered, or Ruiner Nergigante.
We probably just knocked him unconscious again and after we carved a few things and took some notes left his body alone so he can regen, that way the Ecological team can study his biology (since we can't capture an Elder Dragon).
TLDR; The story makes sense as long as you use your brain. My only complaint would be that the story FEELS like the Handler and the Tracker are a rushed relationship because the game gives the impression that it only took us a few days to complete the story. Like I believe it was stated the Argosy would take a few weeks on the ocean to travel between the Guild and the New World. It happens every few quests for us however. Meaning that our character most likely took a month or two before we finally killed Velkhana.
Then they all went home, cooked the damn nature guardian and danced around bonfire. I was wrong, this was a good story after all. We were the villains all along and we turned poor Nergigante into kabob because that fatass handler wanted a bite. What a twist.
A handsome anime black dragon kidnapping the daughter of the admiral, then becoming pregnant by said black dragon for getting a human dragon hybrid as successor for its "all for one"
Random hunter coming in "imagine dmc 3 were Dante enters the tower" banging through all the servant monsters, finally arriving at top. Learning from your sister that you are the lost son of the admiral and that you have rajang super power hunter arts.
Even more motivated, having a family to protect, killing of the black dragon with hyperbudd,... but the seed was already planted muhaha.
Finally arriving home.. 6 months, 6 days and 6 hours and 1000 filler hunts passed. The whole town blew up and a white dragon appears. Shred in pieces the sisters last words were "kill my son its meh"
10 super rajang hpyerbudds later. Everything destroyed. You survive. Magic time machine arrives for chapter select for endless grinds.
Done. Within10 minutes.
TBH, That's why you can't skip cutscenes. They are to be experienced in their utter majesty.
They need to make a movie about this IMO, it makes The Godfather and Citizen Kane look like they were written by monkeys.
