He has good armor if you want earplugs ;)
bazel weapons are good against monsters valnurable to blast
As others have said though, the helmet in particular is nice for the earplugs.
For the weapons, meh, I know Bazel Hunting Horn is good, but of all the weapon I play, aside from HH no Bazel weapon is worth it.
Armor, yes and no, yes earplug is useful, but it's points you're wasting, you could instead learn how to dodge roars (damn timing is tight though) and put points elsewhere (in MEUUUH DEEEPS for example, or afflcition improvement, or more sharpness). Used to go for earplug 4 or 5 before, but since I play entirely without I'm getting better at dodging the roars. It's a safe mode let's say at the heavy cost of useful skills. People talk a lot about the helmet but I tend to prefer the belt because then I could also use weakness exploit with dragonking eyepatch.
The one shot protection, well it seems nice, but I rarely ever used it, maybe once it saved my life. Since I reached late game I figured it's either "dodge, block or die and kill faster than they kill you", monsters have a lot of cheap damage or attacks hitting multiple times that could simply bypass the one shot protection.
So, if you aren't a minmaxer, I'd say maybe, if you don't feel like dodging roars, it's worth it. On the other hand if you don't want to spend 15 minutes per monster don't.
Armor looks really good also.
Excepting elder dragon investigations of course.
In fact, every time I get bounties like Flying Wyverns or elder recess quests, I go like ' you ruin my day, I'm gonna ruin yours'.
