Vaal Hazak Fang+ abysmal drop rate
The armor requires six fangs and I've gotten zero after hours of farming. I already have several gems, which are actually supposed to be rare. Surely this isn't intentional, nearly every armor has similar items with sensible and reliable drop rates in case so many are required.

RNG just hates you at the moment.
Don't give up!

Rng is a b!tch... Keep farming do investigations with gold drop items, keep hitting the head all the time and you get it eventually.

I was wondering whether I was doing something wrong (such as not breaking his head), googled it and met similar complaints all over. Oh well, better start building a set entirely focused on farming Hazak

As a bow user, i keep on shooting his face over and over and over, eventually they drop,

I find it the easiest to destroy his face with bow.

There's a reason you can save literally hundreds of loadouts. :) I have specialized sets for many monsters, once you really get it down you can farm tempered in under 5 mins solo with pretty much any weapon. At which point you'll just be swimming in monster bits after a few hours.

He does topple (or seems to) fairly easily, so you can go for the legs, then wail on the head. Ask someone to bring along wyvernfire to trip (if they have a gun), or set it up in the first place.
Wail on the head...and don't be greedy! use his naptime to bomb him, or super charge attack him.
Or, you can try and do multiple sleep bombs. (get a sleep weapon, knock him out, bomb him) and go in depth to nail the head.

As others mentionned silver/gold solo investigations and breaking the head is your best bet.
Don't bother trying to break it in MP tho, the breaking parts HP scaling makes it almost impossible to break it before you kill it.

Same goes for all elders and their heads - just gotta go all in on it from the start, and maybe avoid other attacks till it breaks.

Been there, done that. Go for gold-reward investigations. It may be often one of them.

My solo theory
I suggest a custom loadout with ghille mantle + drugged meat.
Activate ghille, place drugged meat in front of him, let him eat and then snooze.
Place mega barrels on the head and an affinity booster.
Eat your red items now i.e.. might pill, megademon powder and the other red item that stacks.
A huge strike to the head with great sword.
Run to the 2 icicles now and collect stones on way.
Hit an icicle when he is underneath and he should fall again, go ham on the head.
Rinse and repeat on 2nd icicle which is next to the first one.
Speed run complete. Fang + acquired for breaking the head.
Have partbreak level 3 if possible. I also have effluvial expert and the other level 3 effluvial decos.

Basically the only way to get them consistently is to break his head. The only way to consistently break his head is with a range weapon. I myself ended up building a fire bow specifically to hunt him with just to break his head.

In one part of the map just outside of his den, you can kinda cheese him a little with dragon piercer shots. They'll still land a fair distance out from where it says you're in range, and he'll sit there and just roar at you while you poke him with dragon piercers out from him. Finding the exact spot takes a bit of trial and error but its near the entrance to it. I've managed to break his head doing that fairly often.

Can anyone explain what do you guys use the Vaal fangs+ on?
I have literally 30+ of em sitting on my inventory now.
