So, you can build into artillery and DPS skills and then you become much stronk.
The Gunlance's main advantage even over the lance is that all of its attacks are short and quick, so it can get back to blocking. When you're playing Lance you're too eager to charge and such that you don't spend as much time turtling.
Where's my master ball?
You need the sharpen deco to really open the build up, havent gotten one yet soooo.
Tbh, the gunlance doesn't really do much until you get artillery +3. If you can, then it becomes a monster of a weapon.
Also weakness exploit and the knife tip attack that hits multiple times crits like crazy. Goes way over 400+ damage with the right build. I can't slot it atm because we need the event quest monsters to come in for good slots.
To make it on par(not even superior) you need
1)artillery 3
2)capacity up
3)lance with lvl 4 shelling
4)speed sharpen 3
benefit is that you dont need to hit anything specific but your direct competitor lance on the other hand got very easy time hitting weakspots.
I'll try this
this guy's videos guides on the weapons is everything you didnt know you needed to know.
that one is for the gun lance specifically.
Now, if you want to add shelling because you play GL for the explosions, then yes, you'll be gimping your damage output no matter which playstyle, but Full burst is still strong, even though its recovery time is terrible. Same goes for wyrmstake.
The benefit of Gunlance is that your shelling can deal consistent damage when you're not pointed at a weak spot, reposition between hits, poke the weak spot, reload when it moves away then reposition, sharpen when it is on the run. Keep up the pressure.
Do you even play gun lance?
Honestly, wtf is this advice?
Yes I do, maybe you don't like the idea that shelling is still not the best damage output for GL, but it is the truth.
So you think that the entire community has it backwards and only you know they truth ...
mmkay then bud.
Dunno what community you're talking about, but when it comes to speedrun, you'll pull better times without shelling, is all.
