Element attack from gem does not add up correctly?
I crafted Nergal Gorge with 90 Dragon element, but when i slotted 2 Dragon attack gem into my equipments, my dragon element shown in "Status" is only increased by 30 instead of 60 for level 2.

Is this normal?

Are the numbers now orange?
If so, it means you've reached elemental damage cap.

There is indeed a cap - and it also differs from weapon to weapon (and not just weapon type)! Sometimes a single decoration will reach it, sometimes you need multiple.

As a side note. A level 2 and 3 deco does not level up the skill 2 or 3 levels, respectively. All decos only raise a skill by 1 level.

An easy way to calculate the approximate element dmg cap is:

(Unaltered element dmg/10) * 1.3 <then round the number> * 10 = element dmg cap

I found this calculation on Reddit and it’s been true for every weapon I’ve come across so far (I use elemental Sword n Shield)

This is also a good way to find out when to stop slotting element gems because it may not be worth it to just get 10 extra element damage instead of the full 30.

Okay, I don't know if elemental caps were a thing in past games (or for MHF/MHFU) but having a cap for that is so stupid...

Probably to prevent DB and SnS from becoming overpowered due to massive elemental damage. Adding 30 more elemental damage to 200 element SnS is a ton more than adding 30 more to a 500 element GS.
