Low Rank Rewards for High Rank Monster?

Keep fighting Diablos in 6* HR. Keep getting low rank rewards.

Busted his face twice each time and I get twisted horns instead of majestic horns. I get other HR materials such as the Blos Medulla.

I hate fighting this guy and I just need those horns so I can make my Tyrannis II charged blade. Black Diablos was bad enough but male Diablos doesn't even drop what I need for Tyrannis I.

Any input? Am I missing something?

Yes, they can. Depends on the monster and the materials.
Plates for example drop off HR Rath's. They have a higher drop rate than Gems.

With Diablos for example, wounding the horns (you have to smash both of them):

65% Majestic Horn
35% Twisted Horn x2

So the Twisted Horn is a LR item, but you can get them from the HR Diablos. You just have a better chance of getting Majestic Horns.

With carving a Rathalos tail on the other hand:

5% Rathalos Plate
2% Rathalos Gem

So you actually have a higher chance of getting the LR material.

Well dang I guess that solves why I'm getting LR rewards for a HR monster

Haven't seen LR rewards in HR before. Maybe I havent been paying attention. I felt like plates were important and rare enough to drop from both.

No. They usually don't drop LR items in HR. They are seperate ranks for a reason. Only very particular items cross and thats because they are used on both(like Dash extract).

I'm just confused as to why the HR Diablos is the only one dropping LR rewards for me barring tails and plates in general.

It's RNG. Just works that way. One person might kill their first HR Rathalos and get a Gem, while someone else kills 50 and still doesn't find one.

Thats not false information. It's a particular item thats used on both ranks. If HR gear uses that item(albeit augmentation or upgrade) it will be in the drop. But there are no LR specific drops. Like items you get in LR that can't be used in HR.

EDIT: Bet your going to take that out of context. You know what I mean. There are no LR drops in HR that isn't used in HR and LR.
