Does voice chat not work?

I prefer to have it disabled because MH has never needed much communication. I don't want to run into some guy with a deep voice and a very bad mic with constant static going through when just using a signal can tell other players quite a lot.
Maybe other players have it disabled too, or are outright ignoring VC users.

I hear people say that by default, the game music and sounds vastly overpower voice communication. People probably won't hear you.

It works but as Shiny Steak mentioned, the volume for it is incredeably low & there are no options to fix it.

i turn mine off and use discord.

mine is off to, just got use to not having voice chat with past monster hunter games.
i tried it on for a bit, i could see someone talking, but cant hear a thing.
or they would be the annoying type, have to much background noise or basicly be trash talking and what not.
meh im here to slay monsters, not listen to people rant :p
oh and a bunch of ppl also use discord for chatt

Basically this. I think it's better to not use the built in voice chat and to just communicate with your friends separately if you really want to.
